Sept. 15 is the Grist submission deadline
Grist: A Journal of the Literary Arts, published by the University of Tennessee, seeks submissions of fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction and craft essays for its upcoming 10th anniversary issue. Now paying contributors. Submission deadline: Sept. 15, 11:59 p.m.

Submissions are considered for publication in either the print issue or Grist Online; submission fee waived for current and new subscribers.

CALYX seeks prose from writers identifying as women
CALYX seeks women-identified students who are interested in submitting prose for publication and a $500 prize. CALYX’s second annual Margarita Donnelly Prize for Prose Writing is accepting submissions through Sept. 30. The contest was created to allow prose writers an opportunity to submit long-form fiction and nonfiction, with a 10,000 word maximum. Visit the website for full guidelines.

The 2017 Tarpaulin Sky Book Prizes are now open for manuscript submissions
Two manuscripts will be chosen for publication: one by guest judge Bhanu Kapil, the other by TS Press editors. In addition to publication, each author will receive $1,000. The books will be published in Spring 2018, in time for AWP Tampa.
