Peachtree Publishers is looking for 3 editorial interns for their fall 2016 internship program. This is an unpaid internship program, but it acts as an excellent introduction to the world of children’s and young adult publishing and many of their interns have moved on to working full time in the industry. As an intern, you would be expected to work 10-15 hours a week for 10-12 weeks. The responsibilities of an editorial intern include: evaluating and processing unsolicited manuscripts, writing reader’s reports, assisting with copy-editing and proofing, assisting with editorial research, assisting with special projects and assisting with other tasks for other departments as needed. A strong background in literature is a requirement, as well as being detail-oriented and a strong writer. Interested candidates should also be interested in a career in book publishing.

To apply for this position, you should fill out their online application and email knippenberg(at)peachtree-online(dot)com with a resume, cover letter and 1-2 paragraph book review of a children’s or young adult book that has been published in the last 5 years.

The deadline for applications is August 1 this year and the internship will be from September through December.
