Submit work to the Caterpillar short story competition

The Caterpillar is currently taking submissions to their shorty story competition. The prize is up to €1,000 and publication in the winter issue of their magazine. Submissions must be written for children (aged 7-11), no more than 2,000 words, and must be previously unpublished. The entry fee is €12 per submission and the deadline to submit is Sept. 30.

Submit work for the Lascaux Prize in Poetry

The Lascaux Prize in Poetry is open for submissions of poems either previously published or unpublished. The winner and finalists will all be published in The 2016 Lascaux Prize Anthology and will each receive 2 copies of the anthology. The winner will receive $1,000 and publication in The Lascaux Review. There are no length restrictions and each poet may submit up to 5 poems per entry. The entry fee is $10 and the deadline for submission is Sept. 30.

Submit work to the 2016 Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival’s Writing Contest

The 2016 Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival’s Writing Contest is looking for submissions in the following categories: one-act plays, poetry, and fiction. The Grand Prize in each of these categories is $1,500. One-Act play winners will also receive a VIP All-Access Pass to the Literary Festival for 2 years, publication in Bayou Magazine, and there will be a professional staged reading of their work at the Festival. Poetry contest winners will receive a VIP All-Access Pass to the Festival, publication in Louisiana Cultural Vistas Magazine, and their will be a public reading of their work at the Festival. Fiction contest winners will receive domestic airfare up to $500, French Quarter accommodations to attend the Festival, a VIP All-Access pass for the next Festival, a public reading at a literary panel at the next Festival, and publication in Louisiana Literature. All Finalists will receive a panel pass to the Festival and their names will be published on the Festival website. Only writers who haven’t published a book or had professional production are eligible to enter and the entry fee is $20 for poetry and $25 for plays and fiction. The deadlines are Nov. 1 for the One-Act Play contest, Nov. 15 for the Poetry Contest, and Nov. 30 for the Fiction Contest.

Arts Magazine ZO’s deadline for the annual Poetry & Art Expo has passed. However, they are still taking submissions. They publish a variety of creative mediums and work with artists in all stages (published or unpublished).
