Submit work for the Short Story Award for New Writers
The Masters Review Short Story Award for New Writers recognizes the best piece of fiction under 6,000 words with $2,000, publication and agency review by Curtis Brown’s Katherine Fausset. Second and third place stories also receive agency review, publication, and $200 and $100 respectively. The Masters Review defines “new writer” as not having a published novel at the time of submission. The deadline to submit is July 15.

Submit work to the Arcadia nonfiction contest
Arcadia is offering a prize of $1,000 and publication in the spring issue. Submit an essay, memoir or other piece of creative nonfiction of fewer than 8,000 words with a $15 entry fee by Aug. 15. All entries will be considered for publication in Arcadia, and all finalists will receive a copy of the spring issue. The editors will judge and a winner will be announced in September.

Submit art and poetry to ZO
Arts magazine ZO is developing its connections with poets, writers and artists by hosting a 2015 Poetry and Art Expo. There are a few awards ($300 for poetry and $400 for art) — and the first entry is free. Creators and authors retain copyright for material.
