Cinda Williams Chima works with students at Ivy Hall

SCAD Atlanta’s writing program had a great seventh week of the quarter. On Monday, award-winning YA author Cinda Williams Chima spoke with students about creating memorable characters. Later in the day, she gave a lecture on worldbuilding at SCADShow. Chima is the author of two bestselling high fantasy series: The Heir Chronicles and the Seven Realms series. In 2016, her first book in a new series, The Shattered Realms, will be published by Harper Collins.

 

On Thursday, SCAD Atlanta hosted over 300 employers at Out To Launch, a career fair with a twist, and SCAD Atlanta’s writing students had a fabulous night. They networked, made industry contacts, and spoke with dozens of companies looking to hire writers. rebeccatweetSCAD Atlanta’s alumni mentor Kerry Burke, who teaches at Reinhardt University and is a freelance writer, stopped by earlier in the day to offer feedback on the displays. Burke also had lunch with graduate students and talked with students about teaching at the college level.
