MISS HAZEL AND THE ROSA PARKS LEAGUE-SCAD evet

You are invited to meet bestselling author Jonathan Odell and Civil Rights icon Margaret Block. Jonathan Odell’s new novel, “Miss Hazel and the Rosa Parks League” (Maiden Lane Press) pays tribute to the unsung heroes of the Civil Rights Movement, the brave women who took a stand against the violent onslaught of white resistance. Making a rare appearance will be Margaret Block, veteran civil rights advocate from Cleveland, Mississippi.

The special book launch event is free and open to the public.

About the Author: Jonathan Odell is the author of two novels, the critically acclaimed, THE HEALING (Nan A. Talese/Doubleday 2012) and THE VIEW FROM DELPHI (Macadam/Cage, 2004). He is a Mississippi native.

About Margaret Block: Ms. Block planned organizing events and protest demonstrations in Mississippi and worked alongside influential members of the movement, including Fannie Lou Hamer, Stokely Carmichael and Lawrence Guyot, the founding chair of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party. She shares her personal remembrances of the Civil Rights Era.
