Hub City Press Submissions

Hub City Press publishes books of literary fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, regional nonfiction, nature and art. They are a small press, publishing five to ten titles per year. In general, the publication schedule operates at least 12-18 months in advance of release. They accept submissions year-round.

If you would like them to consider your work, please send them a one-page query letter about your manuscript. They accept these letters in March/April and in September/October. This query letter should include the title, genre, length, description of the work, author background and publication history. Please see the submissions page for more information.

The Wassaic Project internship opportunity

The Wassaic Project seeks a programming intern for October 2014 to December 2014 with a possibility of continuing internship into this spring to work in our Brooklyn office. Deadline is September 23, 2014.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL APPLICANTS:

  • -Must be responsible, have excellent interpersonal skills, be detail oriented, able to learn quickly and be passionate about the Wassaic Project’s mission and contemporary art
  • -Must be familiar with Microsoft office suite, particularly Word and Excel, blogging, Facebook
  • -Must be available to work 2 weekdays per week in Brooklyn between October and December 2014

Thin Air Magazine

Thin Air literary magazine is currently open for submissions until December 15, 2014. The magazine is run by graduate students of Northern Arizona University’s MFA program and publishes rolling submissions online and an annual print magazine. Submitting your very best fiction, non-fiction, poetry and/or visual art for publication and for more information please see the website.

New York Times Internships

The New York Times offers 10-week summer internships to undergraduate and graduate college students who have decided on careers in journalism. The deadline to submit an application for the 2015 summer internship program is 11:59 p.m. EST on October 31, 2014. Please see the website for more specific information.

Ballymaloe International Poetry Prize

There are four cash prizes for a single unpublished poem. €10,000 for the overall winner and three runner-up prizes of €1,000. The prize is open to everyone, as long as the work is original and previously unpublished. The entry fee is €12 per poem, and you can enter as many poems as you like.
