“Save the Date” by Mary Kay Andrews and “The Stories We Tell” by Patti Callahan Henry

On July 1, 2014 SCAD writing department hosted New York Times bestselling authors Mary Kay Andrews and Patti Callahan Henry. Each author read an excerpt from her latest novel, “Save the Date” and “The Stories We Tell” (respectively), followed by a Q&A with Dean Beth Concepcion. If you did not get a chance to join us for this wonderful evening, you can view the event through SCAD’s virtual lecture hall series website.

The final comment of the Q&A by Patti Callahan Henry was quite inspiring for authors of any caliber. “I think that it’s different now. Writing didn’t seem a viable career when I was in nursing school. Writers were people on book jackets. They weren’t real people, and it’s different now thanks to places like SCAD. We know that it is not only a viable career but a vital and thriving career.”
