Ivy Hall and SCAD Atlanta’s writing department (in partnership with A Cappella Books) are thrilled to be welcoming Alexander McCall Smith to SCADshow.
McCall Smith is the writer best known for his internationally acclaimed No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series, of which The Handsome Man’s Deluxe Café is the fifteenth and latest installment. The series has been translated into 40 languages and was produced as a television show by HBO. He is the author of several other serial novels, as well as a number of non-fiction titles and children’s books. He has won numerous awards for his work, including The Crime Writers’ Association Dagger in the Library Award and the United Kingdom’s Author of the Year Award in 2004. McCall Smith was born and raised in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and after time spent working as a law professor in Botswana, now lives and works in Scotland as Professor Emeritus at the University of Edinburgh. In his spare time he works internationally in bioethics and plays the bassoon.
McCall Smith’s lecture will start at 7 p.m. on November 7th.
