Union Mission is seeking a marketing, PR and social media intern at its Fahm Street headquarters in Savannah, Georgia. The person in this position is responsible for assisting with the development of overarching marketing and PR strategy, as well as content creation and implementation for Union Mission’s newsletter and social media accounts.
Union Mission is a nonprofit organization focused on preventing and ending homelessness in the greater Savannah area. On a monthly basis, Union Mission provides 7,500 shelter nights, 20,000+ meals and supportive services such as counseling, recovery services and employment training. Union Mission’s goal is to encourage the growth of the individual and by doing so, permanently eliminate their homelessness.
The ideal candidate will be available to commit to 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities
· Work with leadership to develop an overarching marketing, PR and social media strategy
· Develop and post impactful content to Union Mission’s social media accounts
· Contribute content for quarterly newsletter; assist with layout and design
· Assist with editorial calendar management and planning
· Monitor and respond to social media comments appropriately and promptly
· Identify opportunities for Union Mission to build its social media presence; increase traffic and brand awareness
· Cultivate a rich following across all Union Mission social media channels
· Conduct analysis to better strategize posts as necessary
Desired Skills and Experience
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail a must
· Extensive knowledge of social media best practices; avid and sophisticated user of social media
· Must be proficient with Microsoft Word
· Working knowledge of InDesign and WordPress is preferred
· Demonstrated ability to be collaborative and innovative
· A self-starter, with a positive and enthusiastic approach to all tasks and challenges
