Gambling the Aisle’s first chapbook contest is now open to both fiction and poetry submissions 16 to 36 pages in length. The prize will be 25 copies upon publication. Five runners-up will receive recognition in the winter edition of Gambling the Aisle and a free copy of both the winter issue and the winning chapbook. Entry fee is $12. Submission deadline is Oct. 31, 2013, and Gambling the Aisle editors will select the winner and runners-up in November. Visit the website for full contest details and to submit.
American Literary Review will give three prizes of $1,000 each and publication in the Spring 2014 online issue for a poem, a short story, and an essay. Submit your best original fiction, poetry and creative nonfiction by Oct. 1, 2013, to be considered. For contest guidelines and access to the online submission manager, visit the contest page. There is a $15 reading fee.
