Afterwards we were suppose to take the now destroyed map and make something that was inspired from the map. Well after having my friend help me destroy the map and seeing her destroying it herself I felt empathy for the map. My project is a personification of the empathy I felt for the map. I turned the now outdated flight map in a bird with wire wrapped around its body holding it back from soaring.

Critique Notes:
The only notes I got really was a positive on my use of the splattered ink to form details on the bird. Some did note that they wished that the wire on the bird was more noticeable, however, it was needed for the effect that I was going for.

I should see how my poster would look like with color as some of the letters can be hard to see. I had a small error with the number 9 as that should have been flipped.

Critique Notes:
Some people thought that we had awkward placement of objects in some panels and doesn’t lead the viewers eye strongly. We had some craftsmanship issues with some panels being well done while others are a little sloppy. Also noted is that we had good positive and negative space and lettering for panels that included lettering.

I took a more literal approach towards the project. I first made a layout of my surroundings where I would be listening for an hour. I then took down every single sound I heard. When figuring of away to show the sounds I decided to color code them and lay them on the map however, I found out that there were too many sounds to code all of them so I grouped the sounds into categories. After laying down many of the colors I found it interesting that the colors started to make an image in itself which resembles a tree branch to me. Also the colors on the map began mixing with each other similar to how sounds mix to create the environment we live in.

Paul Robertson’s blog is the next one I researched. Paul Robertson is a pixel artist who does amazing work that is incredibly detailed. I heard about Robertson’s work a long time ago when I learned he did all of the animation for the Scott Pilgrim game and decided to go through his work. Since then he has worked on many new things and shows animation gifs. of work he’s completed on his blog. He currently is doing animation for a new game that got successfully funded through Kickstarter and most recently work done on the show “Gravity Falls”. Paul Robertson doesn’t however have a main site, he operates and showcases his work on his Live Journal, Tumblr, and DeviantArt.  I wish that he gave more info about himself on his sites though as you cannot contact him without asking for information. He does update on his work frequently through twitter to say the least.

Lastly, I would like to talk about Issac Hannaford. Hannaford was part of the team that did the production concept work for Bungie. He has worked on the Halo series which have amazing concept artwork done for it. I hope to some day be able to do work such as his with that level of depth on the design of characters and landscapes. Issac’s blog mainly consist of updates on himself and the current projects he is working on and places he is attending such as conventions. I like that he uses his blog as not only a repertoire of his work but also a way to show his personality. Again I wish that he would include an easier way to look through his past work without having to go through his entire blog.

The main issue I heard from some people is that my work didn’t flow too well. The issue was that it kind of just went off the page and they couldn’t follow it back around into the design.
Also I should as usual strive to do better on my craftsmanship.
