the abc project i was really sick for and did not hand in on time however i did hand it in but i forgot to photograph it. i also missed the critique so there isnt a lot to say about it. i enjoyed looking for letters and numbers around savannah though, it was pretty cool. people tend to look at you funny because your taking pictures of random pointless stuff

Map

this project was a really simple project. just ruin a map, and create it into something that is significant. therefore the first step was to get a map, any map. i got a SCAD map, i painted on it, glued receipts on it, glued over it, inked it, drew on it. then i burned it. when i did this, i had lots of just black ash left, and some whole bits of map left over.

i then looked at the parts i had left and i thought what can i do with this to attach it to my emotional value?

so i pieced them together to look like the British Isles and the countries surrounding great Britain. I made the UK bigger so it was the focal point, this is because its my home country and i miss home. as you can se below the process and order which i went in. this is the map in whole before it got burned

Jack and Jill

so this project was about the nursery rhyme jack and jill, and we were put into groups, i was with juliana, Laura and Mariana. we had a really varied talented group, as juliana is really neat and clean, and mariana can draw really well and is has really creative ideas and also laura draws very well particularly animated typed theme.

we made our story about jack and jill at the circus, and i really loved our design, it did not get the feed back i had hoped it was going to get, but never mind. the critique said we should of used the circus theme and colour in every design to be more representative however i never like to make anything obvious, i love art when you have to think about it some.

this was a successful project.

Sound map

In class we were asked to go somewhere where you could observe the sounds that were around you, and make a sound map, i didn’t really understand what the objective was at first, but really you could interpret that map any way you wanted to and mine was very basic but it was all i heard, as i sat outside, it was mainly people, cars and buses, and birds. but also the wind blowing the trees.

i used colour to experience the sound on paper as well and i went for a kind of animated type theme

as my major is fashion and fashion marketing and my whole family dates back in the past to fashion and my grandmother being a writer and designer for vogue magazine my whole life has been revolved around fashion in some way. Therefore i am going to post about my personal favorite designer Vivienne Westwood

although vivienne westwood is now a mainstream designer, many people do not know what she is all about and her background or even about her clothing as it is so expensive. she was also made a Dame some years ago due to her huge contribution to not just the fashion industry but to charity also.

I think that most new designers are Italian, American or a stereotypical nationality for a clothing designer, however Westwood Is British and is from not far away from me in Cheshire. this makes me biased towards her and her clothes. its very luxury English style.

She is so recognisable because of such vibrant hair as shown in my Image

Her first Catwalk was done in 1981 and her success has gotten bigger and bigger ever since.

in class today we had 6 different words in class and we had to make a design with black squares only to represent each of the words meaning. the six words were: Playful, Order, Tension, Increase, Congested and Bold. from left to right is the order of the designs words. well the critique went in my eyes ok i guess. My Design’s Motif was not the most exciting or creative one in the world but i tried my absolute best with it and i think my design was a pretty good effort. I used the wrong piece of apparatus to do the fine lines with, which cost me the craftsmanship that i know i am capable of.

The criticism that was made was obviously the craftsmanship mainly, to be honest to get such a small motif perfect in every square without the ink getting slightly messy was always going to be difficult for me, especially as it was my first time using india ink.

Project 2- motifs

this project was to put together two different shapes and combine them together like the sketch below. then you take the motif and you can make a design in a 1×1 or a 2×2 box in a grid of 10×10 and make the motif black on white, white on white, white on black or black on black. this can be different for every square in the grid. the aim is to create the most interesting and creative design possible from your motif.

you then cut all your motifs out and put them onto a design five times and choose which design is the best out of all of them and then you make the inking plans.

After the inking plans you trace perfectly your design onto your illustration board and then ink where you want it to be inked using black india Ink.
