November 2012

You are currently browsing the monthly archive for November 2012.

Connect 9 now gives you more flexibility when you editing a recording. You now have the ability to hide certain pods during recording and edit out identifying information. Meeting hosts can hide one of more of the Chat pod, Attendee pod, or the Q&A pod from a recording. When the Share pod is the only remaining pod in the recording, it expands to full screen to improve the viewing experience.
Meeting hosts can hide the names of all attendees from meeting pods such as the chat pod, the Q&A pod, and the attendee pod, before sharing a recording. This is useful to protect the identity of the participants.

To hide pods:
• Click on the Settings button at the bottom left of the screen.
• The settings window will appear
• Select which pods you would like to hide or hid attendee names
• Be sure to click Save in the lower right-hand corner if you want to keep the changes

If you are creating a long PDF document, it might be helpful for those viewing it to create bookmarks. Bookmarks will allow the reader to easily jump to a specific topic in the document. Creating these bookmarks are very easy in Acrobat Pro X.

  1. Open your completed document.
  2. Next, open the bookmarks pane in Acrobat Pro
  3. Now, in your document, go to the location you would like to bookmark.
  4. Go back to the bookmark pane and click on the new bookmark button.
  5. Type in the name of the bookmark.
  6. Continue these same steps until you have added all your bookmarks.

If your document already has items noted in the bookmarks pane but they are not linked to a location follow these steps.

  1. Go to the location in the document that the heading needs to link to.
  2. Right-click on the heading name under the bookmark pane and select Set Destination. This will set the link for that bookmark.
  3. If you don’t want to have a bookmark for the existing heading, right-click on the heading and select Delete.

Now that you have your bookmarks created, you want to make sure that those viewing your document see them. The best way to make sure they know you have bookmarks available, is to set the bookmarks pane to open when the document open.

  1. Click on the File Menu and select Properties.
  2. In the Document Properties window, select the Initial View tab.
  3. Then under Navigation Tab select Bookmarks Panel and Page option. Then click OK.

Now when anyone opens your document in Acrobat Pro or Reader, it will open with the Bookmark pane already open.

Have you ever needed to look at two Word documents side by side and couldn’t figure out a good way to do this? Word has a built-in feature that allows you to easily view two Word documents side by side and even have synchronous scrolling (when you scroll in one document it scrolls in the other). Follow these easy steps to set-up your side by side viewing.

  • First, open the two documents that you would like to view side by side.
  • With one of the documents on the screen,  go to the View Tab and click on the View Side by Side button in the Window group.

  • If you only have the two windows open, they will automatically be placed beside one another and synchronous scrolling will be activated.
  • If you have more than one other document opened, you will be prompted to select the other document you would like to see side by side.

  •  When you are done with this view just close one of the documents and the other will appear full screen.
