Interviews

. Interviews
Weeks ago we have this Female Designer name Mimi Plenge from the States coming to our school being the metour for the Fashion Students.  Me and Jenny were selected to be interviewed representing the fashion management department. The process of it was fun and nervous, we were being interviewed by different media and press in the courtroom and even one television interview asking questions about our point of views. Recently the interview was out and re-watching the clips drove me into deep thoughts. About the whole big picture of the art scenes of Hong Kong and my career.

Definition of High Street Fashion

High Street Fashion in Wikipedia :

High Street (or the High Street) is a metonym for the generic name (and frequently the official name) of the primary business street of towns or cities, especially in the United Kingdom. It is usually a focal point for shops and shopkeepers in city centres, and is most often used in reference to retailing. However, in recent times the phrase “High Street banks” has been widely used to refer to the retail banking sector in the United Kingdom.[1]

Every individual has his or her own definition to define this term. This is one vocabulary where it is losing its own original meaning when people are abusing it. I am unsure myself of how to define the term, because the range of it can go wild. If I were to try and define it, first of all it would have to go into the luxury brand list but surly below the couture level. High street fashion does not need to own any sense of being elegant but chic and trendy. Characteristic is really an impact fact while carrying these fashion items, since there’s no rules or any restrictions of the mix and matching part and this is where the fun part takes place. One thing that differs high street fashion and street fashion is that you would need to be careful with the first one because you would be easily overcome by the clothing if you don’t handle it well. Always remember you wear clothes not the other way around.

G-DRAGON

Best example I am going to bring out is one of my favorite K-Pop artists G-Dragon from Big Bang. He is a Korean pop artist, which is being titled as the Fashionista recently. A lot of the high street brands or even high fashion brands are famous according to the exposure that G-Dragon is bringing them. For example, KTZ, Boy London, Chrome Hearts, Givenchy, MCM, Versace, Ambush, Karen Walker or even Thome Brown.  To stand at a company’s viewpoint, I would have the greatest appreciation according to all the influences that he is bringing. However, as a fashion student’s perspective, I hate him to the max even if he is my favorite K-pop artist. The trend that he is creating is too powerful and whatever brand that he wears will turns out to be hot the next day, which popularized a lot of my favorite brands which originally no body knows about and it ends up being everywhere on the street. Sighhhh….

CELEBRITIES MARKETING!?

Intangible Magic of CELEBRITY MARKETING

Celebreties influences

Viral Marketing is one of the marketing techniques that are used to either raise one brand’s awareness or to increase its product sales through mass media. In-order to deliver its purpose we apply now so called the “WOMM” – “World – Of – Mouth – Marketing” method, which is the Intangible Magic that I was talking about. Basically it is a form of promotion that company does not have to spent a penny for it to happen, relying on customers to do the branding or product advertising through their mouth while communicating with other potential customers.  In this case, it’s a fair situation that will build up also a stronger reputation because the media nor customers does not stand at a point where they are gaining any personal benefits from recommending anything. There is less limitation on this marketing technique because it has endless amount of potential forms of spreading, for example web pages, social media, emails, text, phone calls, images so on and so forth.  According to the latest Nielsen Global Online Consumer Survey of over 25000 Internet consumers from more than 50 countries, more than 70% of recommendations being posted by consumers are the most trust-worthy.  You might then ask, what is the effective way to persuade any potential customer targeting your product? Well, here’s where the celebrities kicks in.

All we human beings do everyday is to observe the world, especially for people that are Fashion-Sensitive like me, I often pay very close attention to what people surrounding me are pulling out from their wardrobe everyday. But wouldn’t it be more convincing if the awesome products are carried by some idols that you admire? Celebrities nowadays are the biggest walking advertising board on earth when it comes to fashion. Fans and media pay very close attention to their fashion items and they would actually purchase them right away if they can afford the price.
