50 things

50 things was a traveling project. I first starting by walking around the neighborhood where class was but my camera died of battery so I thought I would draw some pictures of what I noticed around the classroom building and the last of the pictures were taken where I live.

When I was walking around the neighborhood around the Anderson building what stuck out to me was how much trash there is everywhere. It got me thinking since the trash was in bushes and near flowers and how opposite they look against the other. It doesn’t go at all and the contrast of the two doesn’t work in my opinion. Even the picture that had the straw in it next to the green bushes should blend a little since it is about the same size and look but it doesn’t go at all. Trash should stay in it’s allotted place unless we start designing trash that looks like the plants and ground so it blends in. :D

The other thing I noticed while walking around was the vibrant color of both doors and flowers. I also spotted a random little plastic cupcake lying on the ground that caught my eye and thought it was funny and out of place in the center of the side walk. Reminded me of a blog that I look at called Color Me Katie which does random street art just to make people smile.

The drawings I did were of common things that I saw but I wanted to focus in on just them since I usually just pass them by and pay no attention to them. I noticed the lines and design of each object and was amazed at how something so ordinary probably took a lot of time to design and effort.

The pictures that were taken at my house were of things that I also look over. The type of ground I walk on or what I look up to everyday, even the cat that sits outside on the porch are all things that I don’t take time to really examine or appreciate.
