Call for Entries: The Georgia Historical Society Annual Book Sale Poster Design Contest
The Annual Book Sale
This popular annual event raises greatly needed funds for the Georgia Historical
Society’s library and archives. Proceeds from the sale are used to purchase new
library materials and to care for the oldest collection of Georgia history. This sale of donated books will include a wide range of titles, including history, biography, and fiction
Eligibility
The contest is open to professionals, students, and DIY-ers.
An entry to the competition consists of a portrait format (vertical) poster addressing
event and organizer requirements. Posters may be design by a single author or by a team.
Entries submitted to the contest must be original artworks that are previously
unpublished. The designs must consist entirely of the authors’ own work and must
not include any copyrighted material. Participants may submit up to three (3)
different posters.
All entries must be submitted via e-mail to library@georgiahistory.com.
The closing deadline for entries to be received by the Georgia Historical Society is
Friday, March 30, 2012 at 5 p.m.
The winning entry becomes the sole property of the Georgia Historical Society for
event marketing purposes.
Contest entries cannot be used in any other design contests but may be used by
contestants in resumes and portfolios.
Benefits of Winning
The winning poster will represent the Georgia Historical Society Annual Book Sale
and be used to promote the event in print and online.
The winner will receive recognition on the Georgia Historical Society website, in
Georgia History Today newsmagazine (readership of 7,000), and promotional
releases. The winner will also receive a complimentary copy of the historic print:
Bird’s Eye View of Savannah, 1891. The winner will be announced/notified the first week of April 2012.
How to Enter
Submit a jpeg image of the entry to library@georgiahistory.com with Poster Design
Contest in the subject field. The body of the e-mail must contain your name,
address, e-mail, phone number, and school/university affiliation (if applicable).
The winning entrant will be contacted for additional biographical information.
Design Requirements
1) Inclusion of the Georgia Historical Society logo (select one from below).
2) You must include the Book Sale dates, time, and location which are April 27-
28th, 2012, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 501 Whitaker Street, and the Georgia Historical
Society website URL which is georgiahistory.com.
3) The full event name must have prominent treatment: Annual Book Sale
Specs:
Poster size: 11 x 17 inches
Medium: Artist’s choice
Format: Artists must submit a high-resolution jpeg file (300 dpi minimum) to
library@georgiahistory.com
Entries must include artist’s name, address, phone number, email address and
school/university affiliation.
Winning entrant grants GHS the right to reproduce images of their work on GHS’s
website and in other digital and printed materials. GHS assumes all entries are
original and are the works and property of the entrant, with all rights granted
therein. GHS is not liable for any copyright infringement on the part of the entrant
and will not become involved in copyright disputes.
