Posted by sfdm in : competition , comments closedEach year the Motion Picture Sound Editors presents the MPSE GOLDEN REEL AWARDS, in which they acknowledge the year’s best work in the various areas of sound editing: Dialogue & ADR, Effects & Foley, and Music. This competition is open to professionals as well as students.
The use of sound design, creation, and editing will be looked at in live action films and animated ones as well. This is a great opportunity for sound designers to get their work shown and recognized.
The categories include: Sound Effects, Foley, Dialogue, ADR, and Music.

You want to click on the Verna Fields Award for Student Films. There you will find an application. You must fill it out and mail it in along with your submission.
The Rules and Regulations Are:
- Open to all original student projects, domestic and international.
- Must be completed during the eligible calendar year.
- On submission application, student must have a faculty member certify that all sound editorial work was done by students. No professional sound editing is permitted.
- There shall be no less than three, nor more then five nominees in this category. In the event there are unique circumstances the Board of Directors is given the power to add more nominees.
- The winning student sound editors of the Verna Fields Student Award shall share the Ethel Crutcher Scholarship. The MPSE Board of Directors shall determine the amount of the scholarship. In the event of a tie multiple scholarships shall be awarded.

Lectures are in Adler Rm 317 at 10:30am and Hamilton Rm 132 at 2:30pm. The 2:30pm lecture is limited seating. Sign up for Graduate students begins Friday, May 16th, Seniors on Monday, May 19th and Freshman-Juniors on Tuesday, May 20th.
