Arthur Ganson- Kinetic Sculpture

Posted in Kinetic on October 20th, 2009

Arthur Ganson is brilliant kinetic sculptor. His work is very intricate and he makes nearly all the components himself. Sometimes his sculptures are complex, yet very little movement can be seen. Ganson often incorporates existential ideas into his work. More information, pictures, and videos at his website.

There is also a great video on Ted.com! This website is a fantastic resource for information and ideas on technology, entertainment, and design. Watch the video here.

Reuben Margolin

We watched this great video about kinetic sculpture at one of our recent meetings. For those of you who weren’t there or would like to view it again, follow the link.

Reuben Margolin Kinetic Wave Sculptures

“Reuben Margolin, a Bay Area visionary and longtime maker, creates totally singular techno-kinetic wave sculptures. Using everything from wood to cardboard to found and salvaged objects, Reubens artwork is diverse, with sculptures ranging from tiny to looming, motorized to hand-cranked. Focusing on natural elements like a discrete water droplet or a powerful ocean eddy, his work is elegant and hypnotic.”

Welcome to the Sculpture Forum’s new blog!

Who we are:

3D design, sculpture students, or anyone interested in the research and application of sculptural processes.

What we’re about:

Sculpture Forum exists to expand educational opportunities for its members and to prepare us for careers in sculpture-related fields.

What we do:

Quarterly “Grill & Chill” networking events, field trips to sculpture facilities and museums, visiting artist lectures, on-campus exhibitions, co-operation with related departments, and attendance of regional and national sculpture-based conferences and events.

If those things sound good to you, then you should come join us! We meet weekly on Tuesday nights at 8PM in the Boundary Hall woodshop. Hope to see you soon!
