SCRIPTED ANNOUNCEMENTS!
Lots of announcements this week… first of all we’ve been approved for our budget! Anyone who has read at any of our meetings that would like to apply to have SCRIPTED pay for the application fee of a screenwriting competition or fellowship please email Jeannette ASAP at: Jgrego20@student.scad.edu. We will be researching some legit competitions and posting links to them in the coming weeks.
Professor Bear Brown is looking for short scripts for his cinematography class(es). They should be between 1 and 5 pages, 1-2 locations, and be easily shot in Savannah. Some locations mentioned: Turner Annex Lobby, The Amtrak Station, and the SCAD River Club. If you have a script or write one please let someone from SCRIPTED know and we’ll get it to Bear.
There will be a PITCH WORKSHOP this Friday, October 23rd, in Adler Hall, room 301 at 1:30 (just before our normal meeting time). This workshop is the registration period for EVIL PITCHES- a pitch competition open to all SCAD students. Pitches should be no longer than 10 minutes, and must be in the genre of Horror/Thriller/Suspense. You do not need to have written the script to pitch it, but the pitch must be for a feature. Prizes will be awarded by a panel of faculty judges at the Pitch-Off on October 30th in Adler Hall, studio B, at 2pm.
There is an event page for this on Facebook, please invite anyone you know who may be interested:

SCRIPTED.’s first meeting is this Friday- September 25th at 2pm in Adler Hall room 301. Please take a moment to peruse our blog to find out what we do and what we’re about.
This Year…
As always, we hope to see some more brilliant work from screen and stage writers old and new. There have already been some requests from Professors and students looking for scenes and scripts to be produced here at SCAD. Come sit in on a meeting or two- get inspired to write, shoot, act, or just meet some fantastic people.
Stay tuned to our blog for meeting notes, competition postings, casting calls, and articles about the stage and screen words.
See you Friday!

First off, just wanna remind you guys that Auer is offering TV Writing: Comedy next quarter, a once-in-a-year class that Phil Keeling, Kevin Erhard, Robb Greene and I took in 2008. Auer can be tough in what he wants to see on the page, but is willing to hear you out when it comes to defending content; besides, it’s good skin-thickening practice for showrunners/editors/execs that are gonna want to eat what’s in front of them. Pretty sure undergrads can bend his ear about it and get into the class under independent study. People who are thinking about working in television should strongly consider this course.
Also (especially for those of you taking the above course), there’s a really good run-down of basic TV writing vocabulary and high points in the Jan./Feb. issue of Creative Screenwriting (by Madeline DiMaggio) at the Jen Library right now: pg. 38. It works as a brief tutorial, and is by no means a substitute for the full assigned texts (”Crafty TV Writing” by Alex Epstein is a bit dry, but comprehensive), but I recommended copying it and keeping it for your reference files. If I get time over break I’ll scan it and post it up here.
