Call for Illustrators

Want to create the visual art for a short story, creative essay or poem? You can get published in Rum Tunnels.

We’ve got the written pieces for this quarter’s issue of the zine, but not all of them have illustrators yet! Email scadwriteclub@scad.edu to see the pieces that still need visuals.

If you commit to a story, your sketch deadline is Friday at 10:00 a.m. and your finished piece will be due Tuesday, May 8.

This week’s meeting:
Friday, May 4, we’ll meet in the front corner conference room of Jen Library at 1:30 p.m.
We’ll continue working on the zine, and focusing on the visual art for this issue.

See you soon!

Facebook, Twitter and The Big Deadline

Most importantly: this Friday, April 20 is the Rum Tunnels written submissions deadline. That’s in three days. That’s soon.

Email your writing to us at scadwriteclub@scad.edu. We’re looking for all kinds of creative writing (nonfiction included). The unifying thread for Rum Tunnels‘ content is the city and surrounding areas of Savannah. Set part of your story here. Write about someone you met here. Tell us something you notice here that others don’t.

We’ll send you feedback and help polish your writing. So send it to us. You’ve got nothing to lose.

This Friday we will have a club meeting in Arnold 137 at 1:30 p.m.

We’ve also got some brand new ways you can talk to us (or just follow us silently… that’s socially acceptable on the Internet, we’ve noticed): Facebook and Twitter @SCADWriteClub.

We hope to hear from you soon! And by soon we mean Friday, April 20. Submit to Rum Tunnels!

Last Meeting Before “Rum Tunnels” Deadline

This Friday we’re going to change it up and meet at Jen Library at 3:30 p.m. Ask the front desk to direct you to our meeting room.

This is our last club meeting before the Rum Tunnels submissions deadline, so if you want feedback on a draft or if you have questions about what to write, this is the meeting for you. You can also email your drafts and questions to scadwriteclub@scad.edu.

(I say “last club meeting before the deadline,” but there will be a meeting next Friday. It’s just that next Friday is the deadline.)

See you on Friday!

Write Club Program by Res Life

Visit Write Club at the Weston Lobby on Saturday afternoon, April 14 from 2:00-3:00. We’ll chat about Rum Tunnels, our zine (casual, hip li’l literary magazine), and answer your questions about the club. We welcome you to bring pieces of your own creative writing to share and get feedback. If you don’t know where to start, we can help you get an idea of what to write.

If you’re curious about Write Club and thinking about joining and/or submitting, this is for you. Or if you just want to show off your story-telling skills, that’s cool too. We’ll see you there.

The Writers’ Studio Spring Workshops

The Writers’ Studio (those helpful wizards in the corner of Jen Library’s second floor) have a series of workshops on Fridays throughout the quarter to help with both academic and creative writing. Hint: the creative workshops are a good way to get started or get better at writing something for Rum Tunnels.

Reserve a space for any of the sessions by emailing write@scad.edu. Write Club meets on Friday afternoons as well, but fear not: we’ll meet from 1:30-2:30 at Jen Library, the same place as the workshops. So the overachievers can stick around for both.

If you want to attend a Writers’ Studio workshop but not the weekly Write Club meeting too, just email us at scadwriteclub@scad.edu so we can give you meeting highlights. We’ve got your back.
