We had to document different types of sounds we heard and either draw or write something about it. I did both!
I wrote a funny poem about all the noises I heard while i was drawing my friend in Disney style!
As I tried to concentrate
Because I couldn’t think straight
Because my friends had an infection
And were singing One Direction
While I was trying to draw
My friend Pawkycrow
I didn’t care one bit
I had my head phones on
I just sipped my izze
And drew my friend in Disney
This project was one of my favorites till date!!! It has all the 4 – 5 hours of heart and soul of my Disney/Nerd brain in it. We had to use a map in this one…not to find directions, but to get lost! So I marked my favorite fandoms on this map. This is an interactive map so if you look carefully you’ll see Mordor, Hogwarts, a tardis and of course, The Disney Castle. I used 3 different maps of Savannah and cut them up in discs. Each one smaller than the previous. I then stacked them up and put a split pin through the middle so they all can easily move around. I drew on the map in such a way that when you move and place the discs in the position you will find the hidden secrets the map has to reveal! A few of the quotes I added to the map were some of my own and my friends! For example, ”We love charcoal cheeseballs”…and “Death comes before SCAD sleep”…
I also changed the names of some of the characters from the movie, Pirates of the Caribbean. The Flying Dutchman became The Flying Fudgeman,
Mr.Gibbs became Mr.Pibbs (like the soda) 
…
If you take a few steps back you might see Mickey’s face outline! It wasn’t intentional at first, I dropped some ink there, but it started looking like Mickey’s face! So I swished my paint brush around and made it look like him.
If you remember the scene in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ where Jack Sparrow tries to figure out what “Up Is Down” means on the map, then you will love what I did in the center of my map! Since this is a Disney/Nerd map, I wrote “Up Is A Movie” 
…!!
And to top it all off…..in the map of Savannah, I found, GASTON ST.!!! So if you look further down I made a little sketch of Gaston from Beauty and the Beast!
In this assignment, we had to post our favorite blogs that we usually read. I’m an Animation and Film and Television major and I spend 30% of my day on tumblr… I follow many blogs of animators and directors and other artists as well. One of them being : http://makeminemagic.tumblr.com/
Some of the best concept arts I’ve seen are on this blog. They don’t just blog concept art, but also stills and gifs from animated movies and awards and all the latest news an upcoming animator/director needs to know.
For this next design project we had to leave our coffins and come out into the bright sun and cold wind and go on a scavenger hunt for alphabets and numbers that are hidden within nature….or your next door parking lot. As long as it looked like an alphabet or number. They should not be deliberately made..
Most of my letters were right outside my dorm! But I needed variety. So I got some of my friends together and went out for a little walk with my awesome ass camera! I tried many different angles and cropped a few images…especially the number 4… Wasn’t that a tough one! But I conquered that task anyways. PHOTOSHOP. Thats all i need to say and thank the Lord for.
I submitted mine digitally because I wanted it to be displayed on the projector but the main reason was that Mr.4 was hiding in the deepest hole in the ground.
During the critique, I didn’t get much feed back, 1.because my last few images were a little squished together, 2. it was one of those lazy days, 3. mine was one of the last projects to be critiqued.
Our next project was the interpretation of the classic poem of “Jack and Jill.” We had to use different symbols to depict the poem in our own way. So my group twisted the story a little. We had our craziest ideas coming out while drafting the story.
In our version of Jack and Jill, Jack is this old, hairy, biker-TEDDY BEAR with a dozen tattoos who likes to date young female teddy bears and likes to show off. While Jill likes dating older teddys. She demands him for a bunch of grapes, which is supposed to be the pale of water. But to do that Jack has to climb up the ladder, and make the scene look funnier we drew a little hint of fright on his face. He tries really hard to get the grapes for Jill but he fall down the ladder and breaks his crown, which in our version are his moustache and tattoos! But….in this one Jill doesn’t come tumbling after because she finds a new teddy with a better moustache and who already has a bunch of grapes in hand!
In the critique, everybody enjoyed our funny little sequence and we got a lot of positive feedback. The story was very easy to figure out because our drawings were clear and we had also added some words to indicate some of the scenes. Most of my classmates liked our story line. Although the outlines in a few of the scenes were a little thin and would have been better if we made them a little more bolder to match the whole sequence. Overall my group mates and I had a lot of fun making it and we got a chance to interact with each other.

These are the designs I created that display and describe at the same time, six different words using only white and black media. I decided to make them on photoshop. Not that it was faster…but also because the lines are properly defined.
They are:
1. ORDER
In this image you can see that the squares are arranged in such a way that it creates an order in the image.
2. CONGESTION
This image has many black squares that are congested in one area. It might even displease the eye. But to me it looks like a tree! 
3. INCREASE
I have arranged the squares in such a way that it makes an illusion that the squares are coming from a distance showing depth. In the image the squares seem to increase in size from one corner to the other.
4. PLAYFUL
This looks fun…! It reminds me of old cartoons! As you can see this image shows playfulness with the squares enjoying a nice see saw ride and one almost flying up in the air because of the other square…This also shows visual weight!
5. BOLD
This image shows one bold square among many small squares. The contrast in size makes it easy for us to distinguish between the bold and small squares.
6.TENSION
This image shows tension between the squares. The poor little square is trying to hold the weight of the massive square that is trying to balance on one corner of the small square! If I were the square i would surely have a lot of tension!
I created a design combining principles of form and repetition on complex grids and ink it on a 10″x10″ white illustration board.
At first I created a motif made out of two shapes combined together. I quickly sketched some options and the following photo shows what I came out with.
Out of these I selected the one I liked the most and tried out a few arrangements it would possibly look good in. So I got my single cell printed and made copies so i could physically arrange them and decide…

These are the designs I created that displayed a focal point by either concentration or isolation using only white and black media.
This is my design for concentration. This is a spiral design which is cropped but you can clearly see that it is leading you to a certain point in the image. This is the focal point of the design.
This is my design for isolation. These are tattoo like designs that are only outlined except one that is filled with black, making that the isolated design. Our attention is drawn towards it the minute we see the image.
100 Thumbnail Sketches..
These are the 100 thumbnails i had to draw for practice…
I started with 25 sketches using only horizontal and vertical lines. The next 25 I made were using only diagonal lines followed by 25 designs made out of only curved lines. Finally, the last 25 had either a horizontal or vertical line plus a curved and diagonal line.
After all that sketching I finally selected 4 designs from each category..

After making these 4 final designs I redesigned the one with diagonal lins because I thought I could create an illusion with that design.
I made it first on paper with copic markers and ink and then to enhance it a little I edited it on photoshop. This is the result I got and it really does create an illusion.
Hello homo sapiens!!! I’m from India and I’m majoring in Animation and minoring in Film and Television. My goal in life is to become an Animation Film Director.
I love watching movies!! I learn a lot from them. How a movie should be…how the actors should act and what they should say…(and since i’m an animation major) how they would look if they were cartoons!
What got me interested in Animation and Film and Television was the three months during summer I spent interning at Walt Disney Television, India. During the time I was there, the Creative Director had just finished directing an animated film called “Arjun, The Warrior Prince”, which is the first Disney animated movie from India and I got to meet a few people who worked on this film, like the director and a few artists, and heard great stories and experiences from them. The movie’s great and I would recommend you’ll to watch it…..with sub titles
My motto is observation till perfection. So you’ll see the smallest of details in my drawings.
I hope SCAD would be the best part of everyone’s lives…..(even though “Death comes before SCAD sleep”)
