This Sunday’s Meeting!

As usual, we’ll meet in Norris 101 at 2PM.
This meeting we’ll be having a second pitch meeting for those newer members who didn’t get a chance to tell us their stories last time. If you’ve already pitched us your idea, you should bring whatever you’ve been working on to show us and we’ll take a look at it. That includes scripts, thumnails, or even if you’ve finished a few pages.

This Sunday’s Meeting!

This sunday, November 7th, we will have the widely anticipated Pitch Meeting for our 99 Word Balloons publication with Professors Tom Lyle, Anthony Fiser, and Mia Paluzzi!!
We’re excited to hear what kind of stories you have in mind for our club’s anthology, but let’s go over some important things about this very special meeting:

1. DON’T COME LATE! We plan to start this meeting as fast as possible in order to get through all the pitches as smoothly and quickly as we can so that everyone has a chance to be heard

2. The official SAS meeting will start at 2PM in Norris room 101. However, we know a lot of you have questions about how to properly present your pitch to us and the professors. So If you have questions, the SAS officers will be at Norris an hour early to help you out. We will also have a handout about the rules for the publication, so if you have questions about that, please arrive early as well.

3. No materials are necessary. We are not looking at drawings or scripts during this meeting; there will be plenty of that next quarter. For now, the only thing we’d like you to bring is yourself, and some notes for your own benefit if you so choose.

We will explain how we will go about having everyone pitch on Sunday.

Other announcements

The mascot contest deadline has been extended to November 7th so get those entries in! You can email your mascot to sas@scad.edu or hand them in to an officer at the meeting.
Entries received after Midnight on November 7th will not be accepted. Sorry.
We encourage entries to not just be a picture, but a whole reference and biography of the character.

And don’t forget, you can check the blog at blog.scad.edu/sas for other information about SAS or shoot us an email if you have other questions.

Take care my lovelies!

This Sunday’s Meeting!

As usual, we’ll meet in Norris 101 at 2PM.
And this Sunday is Halloween, so at SAS we’ll be having our own Halloween Party! We’ll have food and candy and we encourage you to bring your own to share as well.

We’ll be playing a movie of your choice, and we’ve got tons of options like
Secret of Nimh
How to Train your Dragon
Road to El Dorado
Coraline
Corpse Bride
any Disney movie ever
and lots more! So you may want to bring a pillow or stuffed animal to get cozy.

Also, at the start of the meeting you’ll have the opportunity to practice and discuss with us officers and your other SAS members about your pitch or story ideas for 99 Word Balloons!

PS. YES, wear costumes! :D

Greetings Sequential Art Society!

This Sunday!

Our next meeting is this Sunday in Norris Hall, room 101 at 2pm -4pm! This is our midterm support meeting! Come and help your fellow SAS members with projects and homework. Bring anything you’d like to get feedback on, it doesn’t have to be homework specific.

SAS Publication Naming Contest!

Our contest deadline has been extended another week! You have until Friday, October 15th to submit your name for the new publication. Forms will also be available at the next SAS meeting on the 10th for you to submit an idea.

United Student Forum

The United Student Forum is seeking a student representative from the School of Communications. The USF is made up of representatives from each of the schools at SCAD and represents the entire student body to the college administration. The Sequential Art Society has been asked to nominate one of our members for this important role.

From the Student Involvement Website:

“The United Student Forum is the student representative body of SCAD. The USF serves as a means of communication within the student body as well as between the students and the administration of the college. All students are considered members of the United Student Forum, and representatives to the USF are selected to serve in leadership capacities throughout the year. The Executive Committee is selected from the USF representatives and serves as the representative board for the entire student body. Members of the Executive Committee meet regularly with college administrators to discuss ideas for improving the overall college community.”

If you are interested in representing our department at the USF, please see an officer at the next SAS meeting or email us at SAS@SCAD.EDU. We will submit your name to the Faculty of the Department so they may nominate you to the committee.
