Updates!

Greetings SEQA people!

First of all, we want to thank you all who came to our last meeting, we hope that you found it to be useful and fun, despite the fact that technology failed us that day.

So guys!
Today John Lowe will be doing a demo on Manga Studio at Norris 101 from 2-4 pm, you should go check it out if you are interested in learning more abou the program.

Also today!
Comic Phonebook is holding a booth strategy meeting from 8-10 pm at the Student Center in preparation for their Artist Alley. We highly recommend that you attend this meeting, because even if you aren’t planning on participating in an Artist Alley in the near future doesn’t mean that you will not need the skills further in the future.

Tomorrow! (April 13th)
The Savannah International Animation Festival is going to be happening at the Coastal Georgia Center starting at 8:30 am

Don’t like any of these options? well then consider attending GnomeCon!!!!
But what’s GnomeCon you ask? Well just take a look at the awesome logo:
GnomeCon

Still not sure what it is?
Welll GnomeCon is a convention held by gamers, sci/fi and fantasy fans, check out their Official Website for more information!

This Week!

Okay guys this is going to be a busy week for SAS!

Our SAS ANTHOLOGY due date is this FRIDAY! Don’t forget!

Also on Friday we have Tom Lyle’s gallery show in Brunswick GA! If anyone needs a ride please let us know! Whitney is organizing a carpool to get students there!

On Saturday we have our first SAS BOOKFAIR at Barnes and Nobles. The bookfair lasts from Nov. 5th through the 8th but we will be gathering on the 7th at Barnes and Nobles between 11am- 4pm to support the club! If you want to sit at one of the tables to draw or if you just want to come out and support the club, any help is appreciated!

On Sunday we are meeting at NORRIS like we usually do. I know we announced that we would meet at Barnes and Nobles but we are not. WE ARE MEETING AT NORRIS IN ROOM 304 like usual.

I hope everyone has a great week!

Comics Art Forum!

Hey Guys!

I hope everyone got a chance to attent comics art forum this weekend, if you did not then you totally missed out but do not fret! We have some notes for you guys!

Our fabulous guest of talented proffessionals this year were Mark Schultz, Ben Caldwell, Robert Atkins, Derek Kirk Kim, Brandon Graham, and Sanford Greene.

The actual Comics Art Forum can be found on SEQALAB.com, as they were nice enough to record it for us but here are a few pointers that I thought were extremely important.

Networking: The general consensus was do it! Go to conventions, build a website and gain an internet presence! It is important to know people not only because it could bring on possible jobs but it is good to remain on good relations with your peers.

Working: Don’t wait and evaluate your best work hours. If you work better at night then work at night. Stay excited about drawing and keep it up. You may end up working all day with little interaction from the outside world but you have an oppurtunity to do what you love!

If you get an offer, take it!

Again the actual forum will be on seqalab.com, so go check it out if you missed it!

SAS First Meeting!

Come on out to the Sequential Art Society, we will be meeting at Norris Hall 548 E. Broughton St., 2pm in room 304  . For this first meeting we’ll get to know everyone, introduce you to the officers, go over what we have planned for the club and ask the members what they want to happen with the club. We’ll also go over the anthology and how you can submit. Afterward you can stay with us and watch the Wonder Woman Animated movie (which is really good by the way). So if you love comics come join us this Sunday. If you dont know how to get there just to ask and we’ll get you there.

PS- If you want to work on homework while we watch the movie you can bring it with you.

SAS at Fall Fest

Fall Fest this year was a HUUUGE success! The SAS table got a ton of new students interested in the club and we thank all of those who came out there.  I know we received over 100 people who signed up on our mailing list and that is amazing, it’s awesome that there are so many people interested in Sequential Art.  Our FIRST meeting will be next Sunday the 27th at 2pm, most likely at Norris Hall.  But seeing as we have so many people interested in coming by we might move it to another bigger space.  If anything comes up or anything about the first meeting is changed we will message all members letting them know and definitely post updates here onto the blog.  If you wish to email us our address is: sequentialartsociety@gmail.com

Thanks Again!

Peace.
