Part 1: Concept Map

Draft 1

The first step I took was defining a rough flow for the concept map; this helped me begin to discover how my sources and thoughts fit together. I then spent the week building upon this, creating a sort of cognitive map of my concept. I then set out to simplify all this into one loop. (larger views are available on my blog)

Draft 2

After a lot of trial and error, the draft above captured my concept into a loop that was driven through the relations I discovered in draft 1. It represents space as a whole, divided into physical and virtual spaces. This space gets further divided by linear and non-linear navigation/travel. Physical actions result in virtual interactions, transitioned across space through the user and navigation, a process driven by the UI and UX; resulting in virtual content with physical meaning.

Draft 3

After draft 2 sunk in, I realized that the ‘loop’ needed to be contained and was missing a direction of travel. Draft 3 attempts to contain the loop and shows the important transition between physical/virtual and human/digital.
