Song of Week 3

0

“Sometimes I feel like Im from another world,

And everything I want in life seem impossable.

Cause people they’ll tear you apart.

But in the bottom of our Hearts,

The Dream’s Alive inside.

We won’t Forget.

So we say.

You cant break, cant change, cant take us down.

We run this town”  (Haha, well SCAD does take over most of Savannah)

Photo To Something More

0

This was an assignment we had to do for our 3rd week of Drawing Class. We took a photo and added to it. We had to keep our orginal gesture sketch within the pictures so that is why the flowers on both sides seem incomlete.

I added the black streakes at the top and edits not only because it took less time than coloring it all black but because it gave interest to the picture. Soild black would have been pretty boring.

On a side note. I HATE Charaol I had a black arm for a few days after I turned this in. Even after showering.

Overall I believed it turned out to be an ok piece of mine. I had trouble really thinking outside of the box on how the picture would look if it went beyond the photo. Some places you can still see were the photo is but I believe I did a good job of hiding it to the left. My mother thought the dark flower at bottom left was my drawing. So I hope I get a good grade on this!

Meaningful Song

0

First of all I don’t want anyone thinking I’m depressed. I just though this song kinda fit with college life in a way.  (Mainly the chorus)

I am still a bit homesick and trust me I LOVE SCAD but just as the song says this is my Temportary Home.

 ”This is my temportary home,

its not where I belong

Windows and rooms that Im through

This is just a stop

on the way to where I’m going

I’m not afriad because I know

This is my Temportary Home”

Another Day at Drawing Class

0

Ok, I’m really starting to enjoy myself with my drawing class.

I have Professor Richard Bjornseth, he is a pretty cool and I enjoy his lessons. (The dolls he makes us draw are a bit creepy though)

Anyways, today we did what is called a Scribbled Line Gesture. Basically we draw scribbled lines to form a picture. Its not as kiddish as it sounds!! It is pretty fun too.

Here is what I did during class. Note these are done in roughly 15-20 minutes.

This was my first time with this drawing style.

At first I thought… How in the world am I going to do this… but after just letting go and moving with the flow. This is what I came up with.

Not too bad for my first try right?

Some how I turned the only normally looking dolls there was and make it … well creepy. I do like how it turned out though. I felt like i was getting better at doing both free hand and putting in details only on the main focal points.

All in all, I’m having fun! Cant wait for field trips!!

Subdivision of a Groundsheet

Ok so here was the first assignment for my Design class. “We had to draw lines (horizontal, vertical, diagonal, curvy, and then a combo – 1 of each) but we had to make them interesting to the viewer and consider our negative space as well.

Below are my 100 sketches (25 for each category)

_____________________________________________________________

In the end I really do think I did over think a few of the designs. After hearing the group critique in class I saw that out of the ones I did, the one everyone liked was the one I did just to be random. NO THOUGHT!

To the lift is the designs I did. Done on Bristol board and the lines cut out with black construction paper.

To the right is my piece that was critique.

“A lot of movement, rhythm, equal weight/ balance”

I was very relived to hear our Professor say it was physically built and gave off a sense of depth. Something I really did not expect to do. Over all I was very proud of my work. I do wish I would have used rubber cement instead of a glue stick. To me it just felt as if it made my craftsmanship … not as well as it could have been.

The process of this took me awhile to complete, after figuring out which design to create (with the help of my mother) I just started cutting different thickness of lines, trying my best to keep them straight. Besides from that the rest was just places the design on the page and gluing it down.

Blind Drawings

0

To draw what we see not what we know.

That was the lesson we are learning in my drawing class. In our 2nd day of class we took an object and drew it. However we didn’t look our paper once, thus the topic “Blind” drawings.

My object was a seashell, i drew it in numerous posses.

The result was a large collection of lines and circles. Personally I think it looks like some kind of Barrier Reef .

I was a bit worried about drawing class for a felt like I wasn’t a very talented drawing but after this im starting to feel a bit more confident. I am here to learn after all!

First Week Complete!!

0

Oh gosh! What a week between going to classes and running to the Art supply store about a thousand times. (My wallet hurtssssss) I have made it through my first week and man has it been busy. I really wish I could stop and relax but sadly there is still work to be done!  (Not sure how I’m going to get a Part time job at this rate)

Theme Song for this week: (This is something I thought would be fun to do, just a song  to describe the week)

This is a crazy upbeat song, that really made me think of the first week of SCAD, a lot of rushing, standing in so many lines (evil red bus) but pretty much being welcomed to SCAD. Enjoy the song!!!

“Now’s the time, get in line,

Don’t be afraid tonight

 We’re gonna take you high,

Before you realize

 ’Round and ’round you’ll go,

Up and down, never slow

 Feel the excitement grow,

oh This is where you let go
Hands high like a roller coaster

 This love is taking over

Take us higher, here we go

 Oh-o-oh

Welcome to the show” (Or more like Welcome to SCAD ha!)

First Day at SCAD

2

Wow ok so this is my first blog. YAY!!! Bit nervous but LETS DO THIS! haha

Ok so my hope for this blog is to let other follow my process to achieve my goal  in life. What is that you may ask? A JOB AT DISNEY!!! xD I’m working very hard to become an Visual Effect Artist and hope that someday be a part of an organization that truly believes dreams can come true.

Any who, before I have make that dream a reality I need to finish college, and what better college to go than SCAD!! I fell in love with SCAD after seeing they offered a Visual Effect Major, something specific that I wanted to do that wasn’t offered by a lot of the other art schools. (My mother found it ironic since she was about to name me Savannah)

My first day at SCAD…. pretty well still just trying to get use to everything. But still the scene from finding Nemo keeps popping in my head. FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!

So of course my Major: Visual Effects, I also do plan to minor in Business Management just to get some marketing under my belt.

Just some extra info about myself for those who might be following this….

I come from a small town in North Carolina, I do enjoy anime (I’m not obsessed with it) I do however make AMV (Anime Music Videos) not as active with it as I have been in the past but I do like making them. Im very easy to get along and enjoy talking (some say a little too much) ha!

And well that’s all I can think of for now. MORE POST TO COME!!
