It’s midterms once again and we hope you all are doing well! But dont let midterms cloud your head, there is still lots of work to be done for the Gender Bender ball that is next week!

Gender Bender

The next meeting (Oct 22th) will be the last meeting before the ball so we need to get as much of the decor done then. And get your costumes ready! Song requests are also being taken on the facebook group!

During the meeting Jen showed us her ubertastic video of pictures and footage from the Equality March in Washington DC. Check it outttttt and check this one out too.

Afterwards we discussed how the budget proposal is going to work and what our plans are for this year to make use of the money (check out the previous post for more detail of the budget). For shuttles we are aiming to get Q & A members to the Humane Society but also we are looking to hear of any ideas that you all are interested in. This club is about you guys and if there are some sort of other activism activities/etc. you’d like to mention, feel free to bring it up!

Finally, committees for Gender Bender. During this meeting we got together at the end to discuss whats going on in each committee and recieved the emails from those who were there to keep everyone updated. If you are on a committee list and still want to participate but couldn’t make it to the meeting tonight we could still use your email…or at least show up to a club meeting beforehand so we can talk to you about what needs to be done.

This weekend is the DC Equality March! Have fun everyone who is going!

This past meeting on Oct. 1 we had Queers and Allies’ first panel discussion with heart felt and funny stories. We hope that everyone is able to take something away from this and maybe we can do this again sometime! Thank you to those who shared their personal stories. *hugs*

After the panel we had a signup sheet for Gender Bender committees but we are still looking for more volunteers for some of the committees. Feel free to join more than one committee, they really aren’t time consuming. If you weren’t at the meeting and want to volunteer you can sign up at the next meeting, here, the FB group, or the QAA email. Here is what we need:

-Decoration/Materials Comittee
-Poster/Educational Promotion Comittee
-Advertising Committee
-Entertainment Committee
-Setup Committee

We probably have enough for Take-down committee but help is still appreciated. <3
Next week we are having a Counseling and Student Services (CS3) Presentation!

Also, if anyone is having a problem of not being able to join the facebook group you probably need to change your Network. To do so, go to Settings > Networks > Edit Info > And then enter SCAD and your grad date. You should then be able to return the group and see a “join” button. If that doesnt work, get in contact with an officer or someone who knows what they are doing.

We had well over 300 attendees at last weekend’s Gender Bender Ball!! Congrats Q&A!!! And thanks, thanks, THANKS to everyone who donated their time, money, and energy in planning this great event!

We were lucky enough to have representatives from the GSA at Georgia Southern and at Armstrong Atlantic come to the GBB, and I look forward to working with those groups in the future.

If any of you have snapped some really great photos at the event, send them to qaa@scad.edu, I’ll post them on the blog.

I will be sending out a few mass emails this weekend, so look out. One will be the official email to become a permanent member on the mailing list. That will make send when you get the email. I will also be sending out emails to each planning committee. In that email will be specific information on your task (set up, decoration, advertising, etc…) and it is up to you to organize yourselves as a group and report your progress back to everyone next Thursday.

It may be a little too last-minute to order from Sodexho, but I’m going to talk to Publix this weekend to see their menu. Leave your suggestions for platters and snacks in the comments.
