Thanks, Gender Benders!

Our Gender Bender event this saturday was PHENOMENAL! Thanks so much to everyone who came out and showed their support. Y’all rock so hardcore, and we hope you had tons of fun.

For those of you who had never seen a drag performance before, I’m proud to be your cherry-popper! The queens had a blast and can’t wait to come back next year.

Stay fabulous, my wonderful family! :)

New to Q&A?!? You have a HUGE rainbow family!!

Hello Everyone, Just wanted to let you guys know all the fabulous things coming up and refresh you memory on some of the wonderful things Q&A has to offer!!!

Last week was incredible with Coming Out Stories, and we had alot of new faces. Tonight is debunking myths (One of my personal favs!) So I hope you all come out and play its sure to be fun. If you’d like to ask any discreet questions please remember our formspring is always up and running, and we encourage you to use it.

Meeting are always Thursday Nights at Boundary Village Common Room at 9pm – 11pm. Then yummy pancakes at Ihop after, but I’m sure you all know that by now.

Somethings you might not know if your new to SCAD Q&A! We have an incredible facebook page that is hyperactive. Sometimes people have a hard time getting to it, but just make sure your SCAD email is on your facebook, and ask to join and the family will add you :)

After the excitement of Thursday, Friday night is hella dull right?!?!? WRONG! Krista mentioned this last week (when Bob visited) and people have asked about it on our facebook  page but SOY meets every Friday night, and quite a few members go so hop in the car with one of us and it will be a partay.

Also we have honorary Armstrong members (Shout out to the Armstrong Peeps!!) they have been coming in droves to our meetings and we have been attending some of theirs, so you might want to check them out also! Their meetings are on Wednesday nights, and once again carpooling is the way to do it!!

So I just wanted to illuminate how diverse, and widespread your rainbow family is and encourage to meet and mingle with as many people as possible. We have so many events coming up (GENDER BENDER!!! get hype.) and there will be people from all ranges of the family there.

Just throwing out a couple of resources in this post… so until you read again….

Peace and love,

-Kenya

Welcome (or Welcome Back!)

Hey, everybody!! Welcome to all you new, smiling faces for 2011 and Welcome Back for all you returning family members!  It’s gonna be an amazing year for us.  We’re going to be even bigger and better than any year thus far.  Your officers look forward to meeting you!

The first Thursday is not a general meeting, it’s for us officers to get our quarter straight and set and put things in motion for everybody.  Regular meeting schedule recommences in the second week.  We’ll be meeting every Thursday from 9-11pm in the Boundary Village Common Room, as usual.  Can’t wait to see you guys!

Formalities and Whatnot

OK, everybody!  All our forms are in, we’re set to be registered for next year with our new board, same time and same place.  The paperwork for the Gender Bender is also in and I’ve confirmed with the illustrious Blair Williams that she and (hopefully) all the A-list queens from Club One will be attending our Gender Bender Ball!! WOOHOO!

Your officers are working to bring you a fun-filled year, with Drag 101, Coming Out stories, Faculty stories, and tons of other awesome tidbits to look forward to.  If you have any ideas or suggestions feel free to contact us here or at qaa AT scad DOT edu.

Don’t forget our formspring, too!  Just follow this link and ask us any question you can think of!  :)

Congratulations, Board of 2011-2012

Lets kick off our newly-renovated blog (courtesy of Miss Kenya!) with a congratulations to our new 2011-2012 board of officers!

Returning as President for his third and final year, we have Christopher St. Clair!

Returning as Vice President for his second and final year, we have Joseph Schoenborn!

Returning as Faculty Adviser for yet another fabulous year, we have Krista Harberson!

Returning as Treasurer for her first official and final year, we have Tina Motway!

Joining us formally as our Mentor Coordinator & ResLife Liason is the fine and fashionable Brandon Luepkes!

Joining us formally as our Secretary and Honorary Web Ninja is our very own Kenya Jones!

Joining us formally as our dual ICC Representatives are the most excellent countenances of Mikey Bond and Julie Ann Miller!

We look forward to another fantastic, queer-tastic year with you all.  Have a wonderful summer, stay safe, and remember that we’re all here for you if you need someone to talk to.

Love always,

Chris

CS3 and Gender Bender Prep

Last meeting we passed out information for CS3 (Counseling and Student Support Services) and brought up the committees for the Gender Bender Ball that will be held on Oct. 23 @ Weston Ballroom–behind Cafe SCAD.

The committees will include:

Set-up

Decorations

Take-down

An actual sign up sheet will be available at the meeting on Thursday Oct. 14.  Any questions on these, leave a comment or ask at the next meeting. If you can’t make it to the meetings to sign up you can of course message any of the officers to have your name and contact info added to the list!

Let’s make this a great Gender Bender!

<3 Julia

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to SCAD, all you moldy oldies, and WELCOME! to all you new folks out there!

SCAD Queers & Allies is set and ready to go for the 2010-2011 academic year.  We’re all registered and ready for a fabulous quarter.  Your board is meeting this Thursday at a secret location (pssst! IHOP!) to discuss our upcoming festivities such as the Gender Bender and really get everything solid for when we get to see your smiling faces.

WHICH REMINDS ME.  You all have the epic task of going forth and bringing in a new freshman/transfer student with you to the first meeting!  Share the queer, get them involved in our community, and help our group get bigger and better every quarter.  <3

Our first meeting is Thursday, September 23rd at 9-11pm in the Boundary Village Common Room.  You’ll all be updated via Facebook if you’re part of the group there.  :)

Look forward to seeing you all!!

Love and hugs,
Chris (Pres)
