The birds sound serene

All around there is green

Sneakers chirp on the court

Tennis is a grueling sport

Trees move swiftly with the breeze

The court is silent as I wheeze

I stand very tall when I serve the ball

The sound is of a bass drum

Thunderous, and well struck

I ace my opponent, definitely not by luck

I liked this project, I actually often catch myself doing this exploration without ever knowing what I was really doing. I decided to create a poem, because I felt like I could portray what I heard better than had I drawn it out. I spent over an hour playing tennis, and as I was competing I listened to the sounds around me. It was actually quite therapeutic and helped me not think about the game as much and helped me relax. Fun exploration!

Thanks for reading.

Hi all,

I had some fun doing this project walking around downtown, I actually found a couple while I was on my way to a ghost tour. I had trouble figuring out what to do for my letters so I decided to go ahead and make a book for them all. I ended up re-doing the project 3 times due to my presentation part of the project not being up to par. Anyway, this was the best I could come up with. Thanks for reading!

This project was fun for me, and I decided to use the map from Game of Thrones. To destroy my map, I kept the map in my pocket all day, drew on it, poked holes in it, and burned it. When I found out the second half of the project I decided to make leaves. In the show, all of the characters always use the phrase “winter is coming” and the map reminded me of autumn with its colors. I decided the continents looked like leaves so I went with some nice leaves and used real sticks to glue them to the bristle board. The gray material on the board is the ash from the ashes of the excess of the map that weren’t used as leaves.

During critique I needed to work on my presentation and “selling” my work. I agree, I am a bit shy so maybe that’s why I didn’t do as well on the presentation part.

Thanks for reading.

For me, it was fine working in a group for this project. Both of my partners were pretty easy going and I felt my voice was heard and we executed the project to the best of our ability. I did not mind the fact that our peers at critique didn’t love our project. Our story was funny, pretty creative but executed with simple drawings on the 8×8′s. The only thing that I would do differently if we did it again would assign certain tasks for each individual team member. It would’ve added a little more variety and perhaps make it a bit more fun. Overall I had fun doing the project, and interacting with my classmates.

This is one of my favorite blogs that I researched over the weekend. It is a blog dedicated to Nike tennis, which I am in love with. They talk about designs for their new tennis shoes, how they’re made, they also throw in a variety of ideas from old designs and fashions that tennis professionals wore in the 80′s and 90′s. It was encouraged we used something that we love or in our fields, and this research actually opened my eyes because I had no idea Nike did this for all of their products. I hope to one day work for Nike tennis…It’s very cool, fun research!

http://blog.adidas-group.com/

This is Adidas blog, and it is a bit more unorganized than Nike in my opinion, but you can blog about basically every single department in the company. They use the blog to show designs of the clothing the athletes are wearing and how they use older models to design something new and improved!

Thanks for reading.

For this exploration I decided to use Adobe Photoshop instead of cutting black construction paper individually. I wanted to have a chance to use Photoshop for this was my first time using the program, I found it to be very useful and I will definitely utilize the program as I continue my education at SCAD. Enjoy! Leave me comments!

I found this project to be a bit tedious but it was probably because I chose 100 squares instead of 25. The only part of the project I found to be entertaining was when we used the ink to fill in our motifs. As you can see, 100 squares is quite a lot when trying to decide what design I wanted to go with. I did find it interesting though that even tho I had some minor craftsmanship errors with a 100 squares it was a lot less noticeable than my classmates that used 25. This I found was the only benefit. The critique with my peers went well and they all seemed to enjoy it. Thanks for the kind words! Let me know what you think!

First of all, I chose to use tennis rackets and balls simply because I love tennis. Anyone that read my first blog post would already know that! The one with all the tennis balls in a circular shape is my design for showing concentration with the focal point being in the middle with all the smaller “dots” or tennis balls. The one with the racket in the corner with the tennis balls is isolation with the racket being the focal point. Tell me what you think!

I decided to use this re-design and I paid a bit more attention to detail. I tried to use better craftsmanship while keeping my shapes and line cuts more sharp. I also took some good advice from the critique and I paid attention to staying out of the corners of the page like I did in most of my sketches. That part of the critique really stood out for me since it was something I was definitely guilty of after looking at my other pieces and sketches. Tell me what you think!
