Eventful weekend that produced some great fun.

First,

Sean Starwars!

Sean Starwars lunched with Print Club and had personal critiques with some of our members offering great advice and marketable ideas for our work. He lectured the night before which also produced giggles all the way to hysteria about his work and his ideas. He just wants people to have a good time and printmakers love to have a good time. His work is still on display on the walls of Alexander go check them out, he prints on old billboard paper and it really adds and extra dimension to his wood cuts. http://www.seanstarwars.com

Then later,

7×11 1st Annual Print Club Trade Portfolio

Then the 7×11 show at Gallery 2422 on Desoto Row. Great turn out and lots of sales!! Impromptu dance parties and Peach jumping in her jumpsuit. Who can ask for more on a Friday night?

Welcome back

September 19th, 2009

Welcome back everyone, welcome, willkommen. Its a new year, lots of excellent things happening this year, lots of beautiful prints are being dreamt up right now by all of you great artists out there. I’m excited to see all the pretty new things this year will yield.

We have some fancy new features here on the Printclub blog. On the left side of the page you will find a brilliant blue link that reads “Printclub Flickr”. This is where all of the Printclub photos can be found from now on. If you click on it you will see photos taken today at the Fall Fest, where Elmer, Berta, Malia, and Deb represented the Printclub in perfect form. The hot dogs weren’t bad, lemonade was a little watered down… Fancy features cont.: Berta had the wonderful idea to feature current prints being produced in our own shop on a weekly or monthly basis. So basically this means that I’ll be picking prints that I like each week, taking pictures of them, and posting them here on our blog and flickr. Biased, yes, I know, but I will do my best to select a global variety of prints ranging in different methods and styles. So be on the watch for new, lovingly named, P.O.W. (print of the week) posts.

Thats about it for me. I’m still tracking down those Alexander Ink photos… should have them soon. And now a message from our very own Berta:

Hey

June 9th, 2009

hey print people

I got some pictures from Alexander Ink comin’ up… but not today…hopefully within the week. I was using my friend’s camera, and now I’m waiting on him to email them to me. He’s not exactly what you would call a ‘tech-savvy’ person, so who knows how long it could take. In the mean time here is a preview, taken with an iphone camera.

These are my cohorts and roomates, Dave Stine and Jeff Mack

More pictures are on the way.

Who’s gonna be in Savannah this summer? I am, in a few weeks.

Well, in the spirit of middle school yearbooks, HA.G.S.   K.A.T.S.    what am I missing… I could have sworn there were a few more acronyms ending with ’summer’…. at least four…

time to break out the old yearbooks (as boredom deeply sets in)

The Second Post (Album)

May 21st, 2009

Finals are in full swing, get ready to feel like you want to snuff it, heave yourself in front of a moving bus, or swan dive over the third-floor railing in the student center. I could go on, really. I saw this show called 1000 ways to die on the Spike channel, of course. Why is the “man” channel called spike? Then again, why is the women’s channel called oxygen? Television…. why?

I degress. Finals are a time of extremes. “This is a defining moment, Connor.” my dad always says to me. He overuses that line though; he once said it to me before my 9th grade homecoming dance. Its funny, but if you really consider what he’s saying, that you will define yourself with your next actions for better or for worse, its quite profound. So I hope we can all define ourselves as great artists this week, not only by the calibur of our work, but also by how we treat and respect each other. Everyone gets emotional and testy during these times, but if you put everything in perspective and take a step back, none of it is worth compromising your integrity or moral character by treating another person wrongfully.

on that note

Well I guess we’ll all be at the alexander ink reception tomorrow night. We’re supposed to be there right? To my slight embarrassment, my parents will be there, not that I’m embarrassed of my parents, I just don’t want to seem like I’m making too big of a deal out of it (having my work in an exhibition), they just happened to be coming down to Savannah to pick up a few things from my apartment.

p. 129; Time Traveler’s Wife is great, filled with plenty of locations in Chicago you should recall if you went to SGC, plenty of romance… and time travelling.

Here’s some wacky stuff to get you motivated!

Maybe you’re like me and space inspires you. POW!

Maybe bad art makes you feel better about your own short comings. BAM!

Maybe Billy May’s product endorsement inspires you. KABOOM!

If none of that inspired you, then surely Shaq gloriously transcending into the spirit realm will melt your icy heart. SHAZAM!

Pray for sunshine.

Hello print fans!

May 13th, 2009

Hey print fanatics! This is Connor (some may also know me as Andrew, or strangely even Jesus), your new print blog guy. Its my life dream to make this blog the best it can be, so please read it forever.

I just recently purchased Audry Niffenegger’s first novel The Time Traveler’s Wife at Barnes and Noble for the small price of $15. You should get it, its awesome and I’m only on page 23, but do it now before the movie gets big if you want to sound cool when you go to see it with your friends. Just think, you’ll be able to say things like “Yeah I met her.” and “Oh what the hell, thats totally not what happens in the book! I read it, before it was cool.” I heard that Malia even works at Barnes and Noble, so she can probably just give it to you for free!

hey check this out awesome

yeah

and check this out reallyawesome

Thanks for all that came out on Friday and volunteered to help at the International Festival and Open Studio, both were a huge success. We sold a ton of T-Shirts at the Festival and Open Studio ran smoothly. We have a few weeks before any events so we are thinking about doing another screen printing workshop to do some more t-shirts for Sidewalk Arts, maybe some reusable tote bags too.

Let’s see you Friday!

March 31st, 2009

SGC is over and now it’s time to focus on some stuff around home. Saturday is the International Fair and we have Open Studio on Saturday as well, so we need to meet on Friday to figure out who can help.

At the International Fair we will be selling the T-Shirts we made and YOUR prints. It would be great if you can bring them to the meeting on Friday if you want them to be sold. I’ll have specifications for presentation later today.

I hope I will see everyone there!

-Malia

PS. There WILL be snacks.

Southern Graphics 2009

March 23rd, 2009

This weekend is Southern Graphics so obviously no meeting since practically the whole club will be gone. BUT most likely the week after we will be ready to go on the International Festival and Sidewalk Arts amongst other things we have been discussing.

Hope your break was awesome!
See you next week!
