In my senior year in VCUQ we took a filed study trip to Thailand, a place I’m not familiar with. We visited many local places such as temples, stores and restaurants and were encouraged to observe and take note of this ‘unfamiliar’ culture. The highlight of the trip was meeting Thai students and interacting with them. We conducted a small workshop that required us to work together to come up with a narrative and only use things that are available with us at the time.
After we laid everything on the table, we grouped the items and rearranged them to a sequence that will make sense and filled in the gabs by drawing.
The workshop was simple in all aspects yet it resulted in something visually interesting, this is done a short amount of time with no prior planning so I can’t imagine what we can come with if we worked on something in a bigger scale.
