Graphic Design is a hybrid field that incorporates an unlimited variety of approaches, ideas and disciplines. We have witnessed the evolvement of design models of production and content over the last few years and it will with no doubt continue to evolve and be influenced by the designer and the platform that’s being used.
I find it really interesting to see how graphic design can be a big part of such a big industry like fashion. Today, graphic design and fashion overlap together in creating cultural forms and designs. This process is made possible with the use of graphics and computer-based techniques has made it much easier.
As seen above, photoshop which is mainly known as a graphic design software is used in fashion design for the selection of fabrics and colors. It became highly important for a fashion designer to have some knowledge to do with graphics in-terms of graphics of the fabrics, digitally sketching or even branding.
Not to mention that graphic design opens the door to many different possibilities to learn and evolve based on the interest of the designer and it’s not limited to any boundary. graphic designers have the opportunity to be authors in the metaphoric and practical senses of the word. Our ability to package, organize and aestheticize through the manipulation of type, image and decoration is a foundation for more inclusive control of an entire creative process.
From what I’ve witnessed, graphic design has been the foundation for many careers to take a big leap ahead. I have a few examples of people I know that are graphic designers who are now professional photographers, animators and film makers.
And that’s why I love graphic design.

Hi Noor,
Great take on graphic design! Although I didn’t include it, that’s one of things that I love about this field…the endless possibilities. It’s exciting to know that if you ever get tired of one aspect of the career, you have the skill set to switch the gears a bit and try something else. Thanks for sharing!
Reshonda,
