Tokyopop Closes Doors

As of May 31st, Tokyopop will be closing its doors in North America. They will be shutting down their LA publishing operations but will keep their film and European operations open. Also, their office in Germany which handles rights for global sales and licensing will remain open. Interestingly May 31st is about three weeks after Priest, a upcoming feature film based on one of their properties, will be opening in theatres.

Week three of my journey in Lacoste begins! We spent last week in Paris, which was nice, but being a small-town girl, I definitely missed the serene village-life of Lacoste that week. Paris is filled with wonders and is definitely one of the greatest cities on earth. I saw so many famous monuments like Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower and Versailles that never dreamed of seeing in my lifetime! While we were required to go on a few class-based tours, we had a lot of free time to explore Paris and to discover everything it had to offer.

The Sims have gone Medieval… well at least in the newest game of the Sims franchise. The first thing I noticed about the game was that it separated itself from past start-ups. Instead of showing video from the Medieval town, you are presented with illustrations of Medieval life with green plum-bobs popping up here and there. I actually thought the quality was a bit off, like the plum-bobs were stamped. When it got to the main menu, I noticed that the plum-bob had a medieval metal pattern added to it with a worn look, and another button had a bit of liquefied look, which gave the idea of wizardry. The medieval music sets the tone and I do feel like I could be in a kingdom.

Winter quarter was supposed to be the last quarter of my B.A. in Game Development. It started off like any other quarter, excitement about the new courses, and pressure because of the amount of assignments. I was managing, maybe not gracefully, but still managing.
