Below is a list of Frequently Asked Questions regarding the Student Leadership Recruitment Process. If your question is not answered on this page, please contact the Office of Student Involvement at 912-525-4400 or email leadership@scad.edu.

 

When can I begin submitting my application?

You may begin submitting your application TODAY! Simply complete the online application on the Student Leadership Recruitment page. Applications are due by Wednesday, February 6, 2013 by Noon.

 

 

When are student leadership applications due?

Applications are due on Wednesday, February 6 by Noon. They can only be submitted through the online site, blog.scad.edu/leadership.

 

What positions can I apply for?

Art Smarts Counselor, Pre-College: Rising Star Assistant, Summer Seminars Assistant, Student Ambassador, Resident Assistant, Orientation Assistant, Student Activities Council Coordinator, Service Opportunities for Students Coordinator, Jump Start Student Assistant, CAPP Assistant, CAPP Resident Assistant and International Orientation Assistant.

 

What is a resume?

A resume is a document that explains the skills and qualifications you have gained from past professional experiences. A resume should include your name and contact information, education, and skills. For assistance with resumes, contact Career and Alumni Success at 912-525-4653.

 

What is a cover letter?

A cover letter is a written summary of why you are applying for a particular position. It should include some background information about your skill set and explain why you would be the best for your job of interest. How can I get help with my resume and cover letter?

Do I have to attend an info session to apply?

No, you do not have to attend an information session, but it is a great way to have all of your questions answered.

 

Can I turn in a hardcopy application?

No, applications are only accepted through the online system. You may view a PDF of the application on the Student Leadership Blog, blog.scad.edu/leadership.

 

How do I apply for these positions?

Go to blog.scad.edu/leadership to apply for the student leadership positions.

 

Can I only do one application for all the positions I am interested in?

Yes, you should complete only one online application. You should indicate all positions you are interested in on the application.

 

You will need to submit a resume, cover letter and letter of reference (if required) for each position.


What if I want to apply for a position later?

Some positions have rolling applications, meaning they recruit all year long. To find out if you can apply for your position of interest at a later date, please contact the department directly.

 

When do the positions start working?

The start dates vary depending on position. Some positions will ask you to start this spring or summer quarter. Most positions begin the following fall quarter.

 

When will I hear back about whether I am offered a job?

One Friday, March 1, each department will contact candidates individually via email. At that time, you will have until Friday, March 8 to let us know if you would like to accept or decline the position.

 

What is the LEAD Conference?

The LEAD Conference is an opportunity for students to gain leadership skills in preparation for their student leadership positions and for their future careers. Presenters include SCAD alumni, faculty, staff and seasoned student leaders.

Is the LEAD Conference required for applying for a position?

While attending LEAD is not required to apply for student leadership positions, it is highly encouraged for all candidates and returning student leaders.

May I hold more than one leadership position at a time?

Due to the way these various student leadership positions are classified, the following guidelines must be followed if you are interested in holding multiple positions.
