Lines & More Lines.

by Lauren Davis

Our latest design project was titled “Subdivision of a groundsheet”, we choose four of our favorite thumbnails; one of horizontal or verticle lines, one of diagonal lines, one of curved line, and one using all three. We then cut pieces of black construction paper and glue them onto four white 8-by-10 inch groundsheets to demonstrate it using excellent craftsmanship.

In class we did a critique on everyones pieces, but just one of them.
Everyones favorite of mine was the curved line design. Below are all the comments that were made:
“It is very whimsical”
“Fun”
“A new approach to a common assignment”
“Out of the box thinking”
“It is as it’s going to fly off the page, it has great rhythm”
“More of a shape than lines, 3D”

“Need to work on your sharpness of lines, no fuzzy construction paper edges.”

Overall the critique was a fun learning experience and I’m looking forward to more of them!

Hey! I think that your designs are interesting and nice to look at! I particularly like your curved lines design. The diminishing lines create a nice illusion of depth and also the whole design resembles tree branches which makes it really interesting! Good luck in your other projects !

All of your work is nice, but your curved line design is especially cool. It definitely feels like a fresh idea.
