Map Project

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kaitlyn Smith @ 6:28 am

For this project we were asked to take an original map of our choice and completely dismantle and destroy it in any way we wanted. I chose to wrinkle my map, burn my map, put mud on my map, and put different shades of ink on my map. We then were asked to think of certain aspects we liked about what we did to those maps and recreate them through the use of either the same map or another map or both. We had no real limitations just to create something visually appealing through the use of a map or maps. Because I used mud and gold ink on my original map I continuously grasped the concept of something that occurs naturally but beautiful at the same time. I chose to make a paper mache mold of a flower through the use of map scraps and gold ink then I created the inside of the flower with map leaves. I also included ribbon to tie together the mache paper and incorporated it into my leaves as well.
