Old Made New

“History will always repeat itself.”  Fashion is always changing and adapting but this comment will always stand true. This year we are seeing many vintage inspired designs. Everywhere from the 20s to more recent years. What I love about fashion now is the ability for so many different designers and esthetics to be expressed. Not only one look or one style is in trend, but all types of designs are created for all markets. With this said, there are many designers that have clearly taken historical inspiration this season but the designer I want to focus on is Eva Franco.

Eva Franco is a designer from Transylvania, Romania and went to school at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. She now lives in Los Angeles where her company is based and where the clothing is made. Franco is know for her girly esthetics and large reference to the 1950s. She takes the look of that era and modernizes it with fabrics and pattern. In her most recent collection Eva Franco designed many full skirt dresses, retro sunglass print, and high neck lines. This modern take on the 50s has gotten Franco in over 800 stores internationally as well as many online retailers.

Inspiration

Inspiration is defined as the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something in a creative way. No matter what we are designing or creating something sparks an idea within us. I personally find inspiration is many area of life. One of my biggest inspiration is art. Whether it be a painting, photography, or even architecture I think art can be perceived differently to everyone and this gives us unique inspiration. Being inspired doesn’t mean taking something literal, but taking an idea and using that as a basis for a new one. Even though I choose to look at type of art as a strong inspiration, inspiration is found everywhere. Beyond art, I am inspired by culture, travel, and nature. I posted a few different types of images I like to find for inspiration.
