Integrating Spring with BlazeDS and LiveCycle Data Services

October 7th, 2009 by kbrown

This was by far the session that I’ve attended. The guys at spring source have simplified Spring/Flex development using BlazeDS, no more remove-confi.xml file, no more coping java class files into the BlazeDS remote directory.

Java Objects are configured via service-config and called by Flex via IDs just like AS objects!

The next iteration of this framework will support RESTFul services.

BlazeDS and LiveCycle Data Services in the Cloud

Well I was looking forward to attending this session and coming back with some new BlazeDS functionality to turn me away from Ruby on Rails but, this session was a total disaster in my book.  The computers in the lab had file permissions so about 80% of the attendees could not follow the lab demos.

Oh well still got another session dealing the BlazeDS, Flex, and Spring.

Met David Tucker.

I was lucky enough to met David Tucker the Cairngorm guy that I told you guys about:

I was talking to someone about Flex development when he over heard our conversation and noticed the SCAD label on my pass. After he mentioned his name I was blown away, told him about how I re-wrote the bulletin board admin app after getting an understanding from his training videos and blog.

Got picks to show that this guy is not a figment of my imagination:

- Well after trying to “upload” my pic I give up….. and you can guess why….. no file uploading to secure sites using flash file uploader with safari. Just my luck.

Social Apps with Flash and Flex:

October 6th, 2009 by kbrown

This session was rather interesting, Adobe AFCS Hosted services (Adobe Flash Collaboration Service) allows Flex/Flash developers to share VoIP Audio, Webcam Video, Chat and other components to specific users (social sites).  Adobe provides an API for registered developers and charge a small fee for hosting services.  This seems to be similar to the Breeze  application that we’ve used in the past.
