Confessions Of A Shopaholic

Posted by Kelly Bongrain in Uncategorized

Confessions Of A Shopaholic is a romantic film based on the Shopaholic series of novels written by Sophie Kinsella.
Set in the 21th century, Rebecca Bloomwood ( played by Isla Fisher) is a shopping addict who lives with her best friend Suze. Her dream job is to work for fashion magazine ” Alette” but when the position was filled in, she landed a job in a money savings magazine ( which is ironic considering she is a big spender), where she falls in love with her boss Luke Brandon( played by Hugh Dancy).
There are a lot of ups and downs in the movie but overall Isla Fisher made the movie more ”entertaining”.
Everything was based in NYC, therefore very animated and inspiring. The wardrobe provided for the movie was nothing but all big brand clothing. Since everything about this movie was about big spendings and high end fashion clothing lines, we got to see clothing brands like Givenchy, Cavalli and many more. Rebecca Bloomwood’s wardrobe is ALL about colors. But besides color, she also has a thing for layering. I wasn’t really fond of the clothes ( maybe besides 2-3 pieces) ,I thought it was too much.

Indian Bangles: Hot/Not ?

Posted by Kelly Bongrain in Uncategorized

Bangles are traditional ornaments worn by South Asian women in India. It is actually a tradition for the bride  to wear as many small glass bangles as possible at her wedding and the honeymoon will end when the last bangle breaks. But to us, like most people, a bangle   is simply an inflexible piece of jewelry worn around the wrist. I think the Indian bangles are very beautiful and colorful. Bad side of it, they break easily ( bought some when I travelled to Asia, most of them are broken into two). I wear them because they are a great accessory, especially in summer. They look the nicest with a nice short floral dress. I have never been to India but always wanted to go to learn their culture. The bangles are very common around Asia ( Indonesia, Thailand, Burma…), it is hard to pick the ones you like because they are all so pretty ! For those who have never been to Asia, it is more than likely to find Indian stores in America ( selling traditional gowns, accessories).

Anybody fond of Jeffrey Campbell shoes?

Posted by Kelly Bongrain in Uncategorized

Anybody fond of the designs? The shoes are very recognizable all over the world. Anybody with a passion for fashion can spot what are Jeffrey Campbells.  Since 2000, Jeffrey Campbell Shoes has been capturing the essence of the street. The style is a mix of vintage and modern look. The inspiration and design ideas come from everywhere. We are the inspiration to their designs. Too bad I don’t own any pair of JC but my roommate does, I would wear probably whenever I get the opportunity to wear it downtown. They are high but very confortable and match almost anything you wear.

Is Organic better?

Posted by Kelly Bongrain in Uncategorized

Why is Organic better? There is a good purpose of switching products into organic.
There are no chemicals used in organic products ( more eco friendly), and it avoids allergic reactions for people who have sensitive skin.
I do not own a lot of organic products but I should start sooner or later, I love the idea of ”going green”, saving the environment ( more of a ecological living), producing new products without damaging the environment.  Organic products are known to be more durable and user friendly.

Blake Lively

Posted by Kelly Bongrain in Uncategorized

I guess we all know her as Serena Van Der Woodsen from ” Gossip Girl” the spoilt/not so innocent girl from the Upper East Side. Blake Lively became somewhat a fashion icon, she appeared in more than 3 covers of ”Vogue” magazine, the new face of Chanel and many more high end fashion magazine covers. Why do people love her so much? She is not just a pretty face like a lot of the actresses, she has character, talents and what most people say , she is ‘She’s a living, breathing human being who smiles, there’s something very optimistic about her. I think she’s the anti-downer, anti-sad”. No wonder why she is married to one of the sexiest guys alive. She seems like the girl next door, the ”dream girl” what all guys want. She has an impecable taste in fashion, wearing designer brands from Chanel, Michael Kors, Ella Moss, Betsey Johnson and many more. With her supermodel frame, grasp on the latest fashion trends, and gracing beauty, there is definitely more where she came from.

Vanity Fair

Posted by Kelly Bongrain in Uncategorized

Vanity Fair is a magazine of pop culture, fashion and current affairs. Its first published magazine was in 1983 and is still going very strong today. The magazine prints articles on a variety of topics and also includes candid interviews from celebrities. The company uses famous photographers for the photoshoots ( like Annie Leibovitz).  I like the fact that the photos are not all about fashion ( yes the wardrobe is amazing) but I’m talking about the story behind the pictures, the photos are always so dynamic and live, they can be humorous and funny. The models ( aka celebrities) poses very naturally, basically just being themselves, nothing dramatic.  I haven’t been reading a lot of Vanity Fair but the photos always catches my attention.

Red Lipstick Never Fades Away

Posted by Kelly Bongrain in Uncategorized

To all women out there, why are we so obsessed with red lipstick?? is it to get the guys attention or to make yourself look more ”seductive”?
Some people say red lipstick is associated with passion, seduction, and flamboyance. It is once made popular by Hollywood actresses by Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor. Most women wear red lipstick because nothing catches attention like it. However, it makes a bold statement and you need to wear it with confidence. Its been years the red lipstick’s been applied ( probably one of the most essential makeup to own). Celebrities nowadays made it more influential to wear it during special occasions or just go out partying.
If you ever decide to wear it, make sure it goes well with your outfit !

Qu’est ce qu’on aime les Longchamps

Posted by Kelly Bongrain in Uncategorized

Oui, on adore les Longchamps ! The longchamp brand became very successful in the past years. I remember seing a lot of high school/college students carrying anything but Longchamp because its simply practical.
The brand was founded in 1948 by Jean Cassegrain, it is well known for its handbags and leather goods.  As years gone by, the company expanded its retail and factory locations into different places around Europe and Asia ( basically global). The headquarters are situated in Paris. The best part of their designs, its you can find all different sizes and colors. You can put so many things inside, including heavy stuff like textbooks. The designs are so simple and classic that it could match anything you wear. The brand is affordable but a little pricey for a simple bag, I payed mine 68 Euros ( around $ US 88) , almost half price from department stores ( $ US 145).

Hong Kong VS New York City

Posted by Kelly Bongrain in Uncategorized

Many people say that Hong Kong is the Asian version of New York City, I say it’s different. Yes, there are a lot of resemblance but I think Hong Kong is completely different from NYC in so many ways.
Like NYC, Hong Kong is a city that never sleeps, occupied by more than 7 million people. We see people from different ethnicity, backgrounds, culture. People are always walking fast, busy, loud, pushy, it never stops. I have lived there for more than 18 years, and it is safe to say that HK is one of the most diverse cities in the world, there is nothing that could replace this awesome city. Tourists who visit will leave with great memories. However some others think it is over crowded and polluted ( but I guess those are the people who are not used to such crazy environment).
You never get bored when you live in cities like HK and NYC, there is always something to see and do. Even I who spent more than 18 years in HK, I still haven’t seen everything that HK has to offer.

Everybody gets crazy when visiting NYC, maybe because of the image/ reputation it gets from the movies/series we see ( Gossip Girl, Devil wears Prada… ). The only things I truly love about NY is the Broadway shows, Architecture, Brooklyn bridge and Time Square. Maybe its because I have lived in a city ”similar” to this for a long time, I am used to fast paste, transports, subway, traffic etc..
NYC is such a dynamic, animated place, you can barely keep your eyes looking straight because you’re completely distracted with the surrounding around you.  New York is also one of the fashion capital, it is a great city if you want to intern for a fashion design brand.
I was in love with the broadway shows ( Phantom of The Opera was spectacular ), if only the tickets weren’t that expensive, I will be more than happy to spend my money on broadway tickets every day.
If you guys get a chance to come visit Hong Kong ( or planning on spending a quarter there) take advantage of everything !

Style to look at

Posted by Kelly Bongrain in Uncategorized

Lea Michele, or as known as the famous Rachel Berry from ” Glee” has become one of A list best dressed. Yes, we have all seen her with her little high school look, long socks, short skirts and headbands as a character however during red carpets and special events, she gets glamorous. She likes to dress to impress ( striking different poses in each photograph). She has been spotted wearing different designer dresses such as Oscar De La Renta, Emilio Pucci, Etro, Giorgio Armani and many more.

Her wardrobe changes constantly, pulling a different style during each event. Her favorites are long ruffled/flouncy dresses, but don’t forget that she also loves showing skin ( especially her legs). Her style is feminine/sexy/glam. I love her style because its unpredictable.
