Hello! My name is Juliana Vargas. I am from Barranquilla, Colombia: a lively country full of color, music, dance and talent, where family and values are our priority. Since I was four I began to get involve in the art world. Later when I grew up I discovered that art, specially painting, was my passion. At first I wasn’t sure about what career I would like to choose but I always knew that I want to study something related to art and design. I learned about scad, its mission, vision, opportunities, curriculum and academic purposes and I came to the conclusion that SCAD was definitely the place where I belong. I want to study Industrial design. Im sure Scad is the perfect place for talented students to show their creativity and imagination. I am happy to be part of this group!

you mentioned that you loved painting and are going into Industrial Design. do you find that these conflict or do they mesh well with one another? (i’m going into Sequential myself, and love drawing as much as i can.)
Hi Juliana – Welcome to SCAD! I’m curious how you made the decision to study Industrial Design since you say your passion is painting. I hope you will have the opportunity to take some painting classes here as well.
Hello Sarah and Ashley! I know it sounds a little contradictory but before knowing I was coming to scad I decided to study industrial design in Colombia. Later when I heard about all the programs scad offer, specially the painting program I couldn’t believe it. Painting is not a career someone in Colombia would study so thats the reason I didn’t choose it. I will love to take some painting courses because I think and believe that painting is what definitely rekindles my inner light. I also heard about fibers and I thought it was an interesting field in which I would like to work in. I like industrial design but I’m not completely sure about it. if you have any advise please let me know! Thank you for your comment
