Hi Jamie,

This looks great. You are definitely digging deeper to build the explanation of this. The terms are very helpful. I like the New Makers. With the whole parallel connections of the design disciplines, I can really see this becoming interesting as new perspectives are developed among a range of design disciplines. There is so much change going on now with design, I think you are optimizing this change by heading in this direction. It will allow all designers to start thinking differently by being open minded and educated about of the parallells that are present across disciplines. How are you feeling about this statement so far?

Hey Roberto,

This does help! However, I came to conclusion today that I need to keep digging deeper with my idea. It's still a little bit of a scramble mess in my notes, so I will share that shortly, I need to research more on universal principles and user experience. I need to articulate what's in my head better – I know what I am trying to say but just need to dig deeper so you understand it too...

Thanks for your good feedback though...at least your following my train of thought. :)

I believe that Message Two conveys a much more "focus" look at what you are going to be taking on. Message One leaves it a bit more "general" in what you will be tackling. The part of the sentence "how constructing the visual form transforms the message" can have several tangents and subtopics to it. Meanwhile, in Message two, you specifically stated three of them. Hope this helps!

First of all. I'm jealous of your handwriting and your organized matter! I know we've touched upon what you're looking to focus on and I think doing a free write may help. I'm like you in a sense of putting things in list and maps...just how my mind is wired. What I tried then was to just write out these "points" instead of one main paragraph. In a sense it was a list, but much more wordy.

Hey Lori,

Have you taken this course before? (Kidding) You have a strong grasp with this! Thanks for all of the great feedback and ideas. I am going to take up your suggestion of highlighting key words, I was about to start narrowing my search but might sleep on it tonight and see what tomorrow brings with a fresh mind.
I like your what you've observed too!

This is roughly what I had before I began the free writing:
- how form and function influences behavior
- transformation of graphic design alters the creative intention of the form + meaning
- reinvent the new meaning of the typographic form
- how interpretations are altered when the design is constructed
- how building the brand creates a new meaning
- how constructing typography is transformed in an environment
- how changing the form creates a new meaning

Our lists are somewhat similar, so in other words glad you are seeing and making sense of my thoughts!!

I'll be back in the morning with a fresh take on this! Thanks again for your great thoughts!!

Tee hee. Then I will never show you my sketchbooks, you wold definitely diagnose me with OCD. (kidding)
Yeah, it took me a little to let loose, but eventually I came around to it in this exercise.

Thanks for the push to keep trying. :)

I just love your web of thoughts. Amazing. Any who...it seems that you have some great keywords and ideas to begin with. Maybe start highlighting the ones that jump out at you and then you can start formulating some questions. Just make some randomly questions until you get a few to observe. Looking at this web I can see:

How can users engage in a space where visual form transforms the message?

How does the behavior of a user get alter when a familiar space function changes to communicate a visual message.

or How can typography and form allow people to interact to define it's function?

I am just throwing stuff together, but hopefully you get what I mean. This way you can begin to narrow it down so you can start to focus on how to depend the argument.

Nice work! Lori

You say a number of things in your written paragraph that indicate you can write articulately. These are more akin to word lists and organized thoughts / questions, as opposed to 'free writing' which is a stream of consciousness exercise intended to free ideas from the depths of your mind. We are all individualistic, however, so this is another way to manifest this work.

Try, just for the sake of it, to put your pen to paper in your trusted moleskin, start writing and don't pick up the pen for thirty minutes. let your mind wander all over the place and keep writing. See what emerges as you do this. Don't worry about making it look good or even make sense. This is not the point. Just connect your thoughts.

Nice work.
