The Re-design

As per our instructions I’ve made two re design of my pieces. I’ve re did the just curved lines as well as the one that looks like sound. I think the design on the top left is a more successful version of what I had originally wanted it to look like. Therefore I think I’ll go with that one. The one to its left… Just looks a like too clustered. I was trying out something different. Also there are my notes for other posts in my blog in case you were curious.

The out come

These are the four that I selected to make and share with at the critique. My favorite one is the on that looks like wheat or cat tails. I think it looks the most natural and flow like. Although I know it’s suppose to be non objective but a Wheat Thins box gave me the idea so take that as you will. In the critique it was pointed out that there is a feeling of depth in the over lap of the lines in some areas. As that there is a “dynamic” feeling. However the edges were determined as too jagged. Opps.

Another piece that I really liked that I did was the horizontal and vertical line one. I really like the symmetry and how it creates a triangle. Usually I tend to like A – symmetry more than anything. But the the composition of it speaks to me, as chezy as that sounds. Someone in the class thought it was too structual, but that’s the reason that that I like it. Also that the focal point is too low. I think that it is part of the design, the triangle the stucture creates is suppose to bring the eye down. Its part of the design.

The one that looks has the vertical lines as well as the the curved lines I’ve nicknames beats because that was the inspiriation for this one. This was called out during the “needs improvment” sections. Which I agree with now that I look at it. The lines that looks like squares… that were suppose to be longer and closer together. Which I can see do look like suqares and not rectangles. Therefore theline is not impled enough, apperently. I was trying to make it look like sound waves from a computer screen.

Finally, there is the curved line piece. To me it came out looking a little like cheeze doodles. I then proceeded to use that nickname for it. i changed it from the orginal sketch which has more lines on it. It looked like a puzzle or a pattern i could have found in my grandmother house. I liked the way it looked and worked into each other on the page. Although I wish that I’d made the lines thinner…

Thumbnails

So. Many. (very poorly drawn and annoying poorly scanned in) Thumbnails.

first project in progress

Hey There

Hello, this is Isabelle Von Arx’s blog. I am from the wonderful and boring state of New Jersey. My major is photography and hopefully one day I will work in the commerical industry. Taking the pictures, making the concepts, putting them together. Anything like that would be amazing. I think that’s the way I want my life to go, but you never know what could happen. Fortunatly, I grew up with parents that were very supportive. My Dad is also a photographer so I think that’s were I got the inspiriation to become one. That and Annie Leibovitz Vogue and Rolling Stones pictures are wonderful and beautiful.

Also that’s my face in case you were wondering.

Then I realized Ferris was in the backround….
