What is Interactive Design? October 20, 2008

For starters, it’s a field of study here at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Beyond that, though, it’s a question many ask. Some wonder if the field is limited to web site design while others consider its broader application in interface design for automobiles, airplanes and video games. In reality, it’s a very diverse field which includes all of the above and holds at its core the presence of the viewer as a co-creator in the piece.

CNN recently ran an excellent article on Interactive Art: Pioneering Exhibit Features Interactive Art.

Film and Television Student Seeks Interactive Design Student for Collaborative Project October 13, 2008

I need someone who can build a website for a project I am working on in a Film and Television class. The concept for the project is an interactive map of the Broughton St. shopping district on which people can pinpoint specific spots on the map where they have a meaningful personal or historical story to tell about that location through video, audio, photos, or text. Viewers of the site would then be able to respond with similar stories at the same location, or other stories in other locations on Broughton. The purpose of this project is to get Savannians to be more connected with each other, crossing lines not often crossed such as socioeconomic, political and racial. Please call or e-mail Sarah Boyle [sboyle21@student.scad.edu (210) 215-6005] if you are interested.
