Planned Sunday Disruptions for 10-25-2009:

6:00am The Savannah Drop Box Server will undergo updates and changes to in an attempt to address recent problems.

6:30am Wes Hall will be working on the Metro Ring for campus, all connectivity will be briefly interrupted.

7:30am Novell, Mail, and Mac services in Savannah will be shutdown in order to upgrade the Fiber Channel Storage connection to the SAN.

8:30am Normal Service should be resumed for all servers.

All Windows servers will be patched and restarted this Sunday between 6am and 10am.

Time 7:00 am

Duration : 1 hour

IMT will be testing the long distance circuits connected to the Savannah campus .  This outage will cause unreliable phone service for all long distance calls in Savannah and Atlanta during this timeframe.  Local calls and campus calls should be unaffected during this outage.

Due to upgrades on the two power distribution units in our Atlanta Data center a number of servers will be unavailable from 6am until 10am.

The most visible servers affected include:

The main scad website

Atlanta file servers (atl-genhome, atl-adminserv)

Unforeseen problems might occur which will impact other servers.

Phone system Upgrade, Atlanta Campus 6/12/09 - 6/14/09

This weekend network services will be upgrading the Atlanta campus phone and voice mail systems.  This upgrade will begin on 6/12/09 at 6:00pm,  we do not expect the upgrade to take the full 2 days but reserve the full window for testing and tuning.  During this window, phone service outages at the Atlanta campus will sporadic as the different components of the system are upgraded and tested.

Our Standard Sunday maintenance window is every Sunday from 6am until 10am.
The following services have scheduled maintenance this Sunday which is expected to cause service disruptions on campus:

Atlanta Core Network Upgrade

All Atlanta based servers will be unavailable while the network core in Atlanta is upgraded.
This includes:

Banner, MySCAD, Student e-Mail, and the main SCAD webservers (http://www.scad.edu, http://www.scad.tv)

SAN Cache Card replacements

Cache cards will be replaced in 3 of our 4 SAN controllers (in Atlanta and Savannah) - no interruption is expected because of this - however there is a chance that some servers may fail to properly resume active disk operations as services are provisioned across different controllers.

MySCAD Maintenance Sunday, May 3

MySCAD will be down for maintenance during our Sunday maintenance window.  We expect to MySCAD to be unavailable from 7am until about 9am.  The Banner database may also be down for some maintenance during that time.

Our standard Sunday maintenance window is every Sunday from 6am until 10am.

Our Standard Sunday maintenance window is every Sunday from 6am until 10am.
The following services have scheduled maintenance this Sunday which is expected to cause intermittent service disruptions on campus:

The Savannah SAN will have planned controller outage in order to replace a failed card.

The Novell servers sav-genhome and atl-gehhome will be restarted with a new kernel module from Novell designed to alleviate the problems we’ve experienced in our environment.

The server sfdm-stuhome will be restarted in order to test changes designed to improving write performance.

DataCard services will be unavailable in order to perform necessary system Maintenance.
