3rd Act Open Representative Offices – Elections 2012

REPRESENTATIVE BOARD

To be eligible for an office in 3rd Act’s representative board you must be and MPRA or PROD major/minor. The Representative Board supports and aids the 3rd Act Executive Board in all  3rd Act activities and decision. They also serve as the liaison between 3rd Act and their classes.

The Representative Board meets, alongside the Executive Board, twice a month, Fridays at 8:00am in Crites Room, 012

1.GRADUATE REP.

  • Liaison between 3rd Act and the Performing Arts MFA cohort.

2. SENIOR REP.

  • Liaison between 3rd Act and the Performing Arts Senior class.

3. JUNIOR REP. (2)

  • Liaison between 3rd Act and the Performing Arts Junior class.

4. SOPHOMORE REP. (2)

  • Liaison between 3rd Act and the Performing Arts Sophomore Class.

5. FRESHMEN REP. (2)

  • Liaison between 3rd Act and the Performing Arts Freshmen Class.

6. PRODUCTION DESIGN REP. (3 )

  • Liaison between 3rd Act and the Production Design class.
  • One for each concentration: Scenic, Lighting, and Costume

 

3rd Act Open Executive Offices – 2012 Elections

EXECUTIVE BOARD

To be eligible for an executive board office you must be an MPRA or PROD major. The 3rd Act Executive Board meets on a weekly basis, Fridays at 8:00am in Crites Room 012.

1. VICE-PRESIDENT

  •  Chairs meetings in the absence of the President.
  • Assume all powers and duties of the President in the absence of the President.
  • Serve as the performing arts student representative to the Season Planning Committee
  • Collect and organize all submissions and materials regarding the Performing Arts Studio Season
  • Open and close all meetings
  • In second year of functions the Vice President assumes Presidency.

2.BUSINESS MANAGER

  •  Prepare an annual budget allocation to be submitted to ICC
  • Regulate incoming and outgoing funds
  • Keep a ldeger of the organization’s expenditures
  • Reserve all spaces necessary for meetings, special events and otehr 3rd Act gatherings.

3. SECRETARY

  • To record and distribute minutes of all general and special meetings in a timely manner
  • Keep and maintain records of all communication within the board during meetings and through email communication
  • Maintain and update a distribution list for the executive board
  • Upload minutes and other club documents on a monthly basis to the organization’s hard drive
  • Maintains attendance and tardiness records of all officers at all meetings.

4. DRAMATURG

  • Serve as the historian of the club
  • Maintain complete and accurate records illustrating all of the club’s activities
  • Takes and collects  photos to create an image database.
  • Maintain the organizations hard drive’s contents and distribution.

5. ICC LIAISON

  • Maintain consistent communication between ICC and 3rd Act
  • Attend all ICC Meetings
  • Serve as the club ambassador to other student organizations.

6. ADVERTISING EXECUTIVE

  • Serve as the director of publicity for 3rd Act
  • Manages, maintains and distributes incoming and outgoing emails send to the club email account.
  • Maintains and updates all social network accounts including but not limited to: facebook, twitter, tumblr, and the 3rd Act blog.
  • Creates, executes and distributes all publicity materials.

This spring quarter is showing an amazing turn out for student produced theater! More shows are being put on this quarter in our department than any quarter before. Last Call for Spring Show Submissions

FINAL CALL FOR STUDIO SEASON SUBMISSIONS!!
Deadline for submissions is THIS FRIDAY March 30th, 2012.

The Studio Season submission process for Spring Quarter is coming to a close and we want your input! Remember, the proposed show must follow these requirements:
• Cast size and design demands must be apt for the Mondanaro Theater.
• Capable to be produced with a budget of $900 ($300 for each design element: set, lighting and costumes). No outside resources can be used as supplement.
• Since the Mainstage musical will be this quarter, no musicals will be considered.
• Undergrad student directors must have AD’d a mainstage show and taken the directing class (MPRA 375). Grad students must have prior directing experience.

Proposals can be submitted via email to iiiact@scad.edu. Directors must attach credentials/resume and a copy of the full script along with the

3rd Act’s Studio Season was conceived to give more opportunities to our student actors and designers as well as provide student directors with a platform to showcase and practice their directing skills. There are two to three shows a year, one each quarter, with a budget allocated for costumes, scenic design, lighting and other production costs. 3rd Act is a collaborative community of artists that provides a creative forum for performing arts and production design to showcase student generated and produced work.

2nd 48 Hour Topic Revealed

48-Hour Theater
Your play MUST:
• Be approx 10-min. long (limit is 10pp).
• Use 3 to 5 actors.
• Be set in, on, or near water.
• Have a secret that is revealed.
• Use the line: “I have always relied on the kindness of strangers.”*

Instructions to submit:
• Deadline is Friday at 7pm.
• Email your script as a PDF or Word attachment to: iiiact@scad.edu.
• In your email, include your name, phone number, and title of your play.
• On the script itself, do NOT include
your name (judging will be anonymous).

Keep in mind:
• Scenic elements will be very minimal.
• Costuming will be from actors’ closets.
• Lines must be memorized overnight (hold off on those 3-page monologues).

On Friday night, five plays will be chosen by a panel of student-faculty judges. If your play is among them, you will be contacted by email at that time. You are encouraged to attend rehearsal, beginning at 8am on Saturday. The show goes up Saturday – two performances, 7pm and 9pm – in the Mondanaro Theater in Crites Hall.

48 Hour Theater Auditions

AUDITION NOTICE:

48 Hour Theater will be auditioning tonight and tomorrow for its actor pool. Auditions will be held in Crites room 013 and 014 from 5pm till 10 pm. If interested, all you have to do is present a monologue of your choosing and fill out the audition form. Break a leg!

Acting Opportunity

ACTORS NEEDED for ADVANCED PLAYWRITING READING!
Tuesday, Nov 15, 5-7:30, in the Mondy

We’ll have an ensemble cast reading excerpts from the final plays of the Advanced Playwriting class.

No rehearsal, but you will have the script ahead of time, and be able to ask the writers questions and check in with your scene partners Tues at 5pm, reading starts at 5:30, done by 7:30.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience doing what early-career actors do of more than anything else: READINGS.

Hey guys,

We have our second meeting of the quarter Wednesday October 4th at 4:45 in Crites Hall.

At this meeting we will elect our freshman, graduate, and production design representatives and discuss new information such as the GTC workshop coming up!
