Georgia Theatre Conference and SETC

Each March SETC hosts combined Professional Auditions for approximately 90 professional hiring theatres as part of the annual convention. SETC requires that all pre-professional actors (students and adults) be screened on the state level before being accepted to the auditions in March.Actors currently enrolled in school, whether or not they have earned a salary acting, must attend the state screening auditions. Auditionees must register for the state screenings and must apply online for the SETC Auditions.

Each state in SETC’s 10 State Region holds preliminary auditions in the Fall in order to send the most qualified actors to participate in the regional auditions at the annual convention in the spring. SETC Georgia State Screening Auditions will be in Columbus, Ga., Friday afternoon, October 16, and all day Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Columbus State University as part of the 2009 GTC Convention. Please be aware that there are major changes in the application process; you can find out about them through the links below. You will apply for the State Screening Auditions by registering with SETC online. You will still fill out the SETC Audition form thru the MatchingNeeds.com website.

Welcome!

Welcome back to a brand new school year and to 3rd Act’s first full year!

For those of you who are unfamiliar with 3rd Act, let me tell you a little bit about ourselves. We are a student run club/production company, so in short we are here to service our fellow students. We are not only here to help you with most of your performing arts needs, but we are also here to help create art. 3rd Act will be starting what we like to call the 2nd Stage Season, which will be a series of shows that happen underneath the Main Stage shows.

Another goal of ours this year is to help prepare students, with the help of our professors, for the Georgia Theatre Conference (GTC) and the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC), which is one of the greatest ways to find summer jobs and internships in the performing arts while also making great contacts.

Our 2009-2010 Officers are:

President – Ashley Pinnock
Vice President – Stephanie Candelaria
Secretary – Grace Olson-Davidson
Business Manager – Miles Boinest
Dramaturg - Chelsea Steverson
Advertising Executive – Derek T. Pickens
ICC Liaisons – Jose de Leon and Ivey Lowe

We’re still getting things set up here on our blog, but please make sure to bookmark us because this is where all important information will be coming out. Please make sure to check back for updates on GTC, SETC and Alpha Psi Omega.
