What’s Next in Fall 2010?

In addition to everything that IDSA is planning (you’ll have to wait a little longer to hear about that…), the School of Design itself is holding some fantastic sponsored classes.

Dell is sponsoring a two quarter long class, taught by Professor Paepcke – Hjeltness; this class would be a great substitute for a studio class.

Victor Ermoli, the Dean of the School of Design, is also running a class sponsored by Fossil. This multidisciplinary class is perceived as a 10 week long interview for an internship or a job.

Professor McCabe is also teaching another Freescale class this quarter; looking at how fantastic the Freescale projects turned out last time, this is a great class to substitute for a studio.

For those interested in interaction design, Professor Malouf is running a Motorola sponsored class, as well as a Staybridge sponsored multidisciplinary class.

On the graduate level, Professor Fee is teaching a contextual research class sponsored by JCB. Graduate students also will get the chance to take a class called ‘What’s Next for Dalton?’, taught by Professor Christine Miller. Looking at how many SCAD students the town of Dalton gave internships to this summer, they are obviously impressed with the quality of work existing at SCAD. If you missed out on an internship this summer in Dalton, this would be a great class to take.

Chick – Fil – A is sponsoring a class run by our newest part time industrial and design management professor, Stokes Jones, on Methods of Contextual Research.

All of these classes are a valuable opportunities to both work with a client and get more experience.
