The Designing in the Dark Design Charette will provide design students with the opportunity to collaborate and network with students from other design schools in order to create universal design solutions, aimed to improve the lives of the visually impaired. The Dialogue in the Dark exhibit is built into the charette program and gives students the chance to briey share similar experiences with someone who is visually impaired and ask questions rst hand. Students will have the challenge of creating design solutions and present them in a way that is compelling to both a sighted and nonsighted audience. The event will be hosted by the SCAD Atlanta campus. The facilities will include a computer lab and shuttle transportation to the exhibit site.

Dialogue in the Dark is an awareness raising exhibition. It is a social franchising company, offering exhibitions and business training in total darkness, creating jobs for the blind, disabled and disadvantaged worldwide. In Dialogue in the Dark, blind guides lead visitors in small groups through different settings in absolute darkness. The visitors learn how to interact without sight by using their other senses.

Thanks to all those who attended our kick-off IDSA bbq at Starland this week! Over 30 people came and enjoyed the sizzling burgers and great company. We hope to see everyone on Monday @ 8 pm in room 122 for our next meeting.

To catch anyone up that might have missed what happened last quarter here is a quick recap.  Please visit the SCAD IDSA student group on Facebook for more details and to become a member.

Here’s a quick recap of what occurred:

Sketch sessions every Friday at 1.  “Gambo” style sketch aerobics which involved large pieces of paper, and big pen strokes all done to loud techno music.
