Jack and Jill critique
Today in class we had to present our group designs to the class based off the story of Jack and Jill. Here is my take on how they went…

Ah, the project of my group. At first, I didn’t think we were going to come to a clear conciseness because of the different art styles of the three of us. That changed when we were thrown out into the blistering heat. Knowing we couldn’t just come back into the class empty handed, we finally came to an agreement. I’d say that we did a pretty good job on this design. The main critique we had was that one person should have been designated drawer. I agree with this as I’m pretty bad at drawing haha. Still, I had a lot of fun with this assignment.

This design is a masterpiece, plain and simple. I’m glad my team went first as I don’t think I’d want to present after this one. The idea of having Jill dream the whole experience was just genius. Okay, I think I’ve gushed over this one enough. I have nothing negative to say about this one.

This was a good design by group three. They were the only group in the class to use some color which was was pretty cool. The main critique given was that the plane didn’t make much sense for the pacing of the story. I personally had no problems with it though.

I don’t really have any feelings for this groups work. It’s not necessarily bad, it just doesn’t captivate me. I like the frame with the crown breaking but that’s pretty much it.

Last and pretty much least, we have group fives design. What this group showed was that not all of the groups had an easy time getting around their different art styles. The art just seems disconnected from  each other, and that’s a shame because everyone who worked on this project has done much better. Still, there are some good points like the fountain spelling water and the broken crown.
No commentsDifference Between Art and Design
What I got from this article is that I’d be more of a designer than an artist. I have absolutely no natural talent when it comes to being an artist. When I was little, I was jealous of my cousin for having natural skills and being able to draw the characters off of cartoons while I was reduced to drawing stick figures. I don’t think my design skills are that great either, but they are definitely more refined that anything on my artistic side. That’s probably why I’m going for Photography, and not say, Painting. No drawing required there
Design 100 1st project
These are my top 4 designs for each category. The critiques were understandable, had a bit to much white space. I’ll remember that for my next project.

These are the preliminary sketches for the aforementioned class: Horizontal and Vertical, Diagonal, Curves, and all together. Here are the results!
