What are Hometown Heroes?

What’s in it for me?
To show our appreciation for your efforts, registered Hometown Heroes are invited to a Thank You Party at the beginning of next quarter. For visiting a school and returning an on-line or printed report of your visit, you will receive an insulated SCAD Hometown Hero cup.

Hometown Heroes make an impact

9 12 2011

Students from Soumitra Goswami's Hometown Hero visit to Delhi Public School North in Bangalore, India give a shout out to SCAD.

So far we’ve received 22 official reports from Hometown Heroes through our online report located at http://bit.ly/SAVHHReport, but I’ve heard a lot more of you talking about your visits on Facebook and in emails. We’re excited to hear how much fun you’re having visiting your former schools!

Here are just a few quotes from Hometown Heroes who recently visited schools:

“My visit went well but, it was shorter than I had hoped because of weather conditions. The students were very receptive and glad to see someone they knew this year instead of a random representative. The younger students were very interested in Challenges and Rising Star programs.”- Taylor Hester, on her visit to Florence High School, Florence, AL

“It was so much fun. They were so ambitious, and eager to learn more about SCAD. They asked a plethora of questions, I answered most of them when I had time, but it was helpful to have the factual sheet to go by when I got lost. I loved being a guide for the young leaders of the next generation that became inspired. It made me want to help them as much as I could. It was simply empowering.”- Malikah Cobb on her visit to Ridgeview HS, Columbia, SC

“It was an entertaining, and informational session, that seemed to make an impact on the students. I say it was very successful, and very enjoyable for me as a representative. “-Candace Zutten, on her visit to North Fort Myers High School, Fort Myers, FL

“Overall, I think my visit went over very well. The students were very receptive of my work and asked many questions about it as well as about SCAD. The art teachers, Judy Krueger and Miranda Zahn, were very appreciative of a college student and alumnus coming to thier classes and promoting an art school. Being a small high school, art schools rarely come and give presentations. “- Chandler Ellison on her visit to Johnsburg HS, Johnsburg, IL

Thank you Heroes, and keep the reports comming!
